Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

Libero Records head Dan Costello steps up with All About House EP (LBR093), a statement release that captures the essence of the label’s groove-driven ethos. The title track, “All About House,” is a stripped yet infectious roller, powered by crisp percussion, hypnotic low-end, and a strong vocal accent - a pure dance-floor weapon. Its B-side, “Don’t Stop Me,” keeps the formula tight but adds a slightly more driving edge, pushing the energy into peak-time territory. On the remix, rising talent Omari injects a deeper flavour, reworking the original into a late-night cut with slick drum programming and atmospheric flair.
As label boss, Dan Costello continues to set the tone for Libero’s output, and All About House EP is a perfect showcase of the balance between raw energy and refined minimalism that defines the imprint.

British producer wAFF has been making waves in recent years, reflecting on a diligent 2015 spent playing across the likes of Europe, Africa, Asia and the States, when not making routine appearances at Paradise, Ibiza. As a producer he’s dropped several lauded releases on Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations imprint, not to mention Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour and Sven Väth’s Cocoon, with his next outing landing on renowned Swedish label Drumcode run by techno titan Adam Beyer.

Laying down hard hitting kicks from the off, ‘Holographic’ churns out an undulating synth combined with shuffling hats and a cavernous low-end, before ‘VibrationZ’ employs a low-slung groove fashioned from a sultry bassline, floating chords and sinister vocal. Tying it together, ‘Syncronistic’ is on a more heads down tip with whirring atmospherics, crunchy snares and subtle 303 squelches for a lengthy and mesmerising piece of production.

Over the course of the past two years, Marc Houle's music has quickly elevated his studio prose into desired analogsoaked treasures of the dancefloor. Developing fans from vinyl to the club, the new double pack outing titled BAY OF FIGS showcases new developments in his already minimal pop genius that have been tested on the road over the past few months. From the manic title track onward his sound continues to develop from a rich bed of electro pop and minimal techno, with gems that stay in the groove or contort themselves by design.

The arctic storm that is "Bay of Figs" sends a simple yet effective message through it's haunting and menacing drone. On the bouncing and loose "Thirds In Trees", Marc drops in live claps and bass guitar in the melodic and hooky mood reminiscent of the Kingsley classic "Popcorn". A clear fan of euro & industrial attitudes from decades past, "Black Jack 13" claps and bends with electro fever, rattling around erratic effects and synth lines all under four minutes time. One of the more intense tracks in Houle's live sets is the square-wave melody of "Edamame". But its "Items and Things" that highlights Houle's musicianship for synth pop while also revealing his obvious contribution another side project, Run Stop Restore (the trio with Magda and Troy Pierce). Houle's arrangements, melodies and choice effects create easy instrumentals that hold their own beauty without vocal attachments.

In the past year he has remixed Slam's "Kill The Pain" single (featuring Dot Allison) and "Turbo Dreams" by Ellen Allien & Apparat. Between DJs championing his work in clubs and after-parties or making it an essential addition on mix albums from producers like Slam or Loco Dice, Houle is working his way to the top. His live performances from Europe to the US have doubled the impact, on tour in the US during May for the min2MAX bus tour.

From early breakout hit "Phat Dope Shit" in 2002 to "Heavy Heart", a new collaboration with Skrillex and Fireboy DML, Dice has always been in the headlines. After his debut album "7 Dunham Place" on his own now long-running and well-regarded Desolat in 2008, came the major label follow-up "Underground Sound Suicide" on Ultra Music with guests like Giggs, Just Blaze, and Neneh Cherry, then the agenda-setting and club-focussed house and techno showcase that was "Love Letters" in 2018. 

Add in tens of EPs on Ovum, Minus, Cocoon, to name a few, and his remixes from everyone from Kevin Saunderson to Moby, Black Coffee to Disclosure, Warren G to Basement Jaxx, Loco Dice has always been at the beating heart of the electronic scene. 

His DJ sets, too, always brim with personality, whether in a small underground basement or on an iconic main stage at some of the world's top festivals like EDC Ultra, Tomorrowland and Coachella to name a few, playing to thousands. He has had era-defining residencies at iconic Ibiza super clubs like Circoloco at DC-10 and on the Amnesia Terrace as well at Space Miami. 

His lockdown move has been to unveil En Coleur, a label reserved exclusively for his own music produced at that time. SB Recordings followed. A new label open to all styles of dance music.

Since day one Loco Dice constantly pushes the boundaries of techno and house music production, from his appearance in 2004 PlayStation2 game "Decks & FX" to cooking up his own ideal fusions of hip hop and electronic music with his FKD side project or writing critically acclaimed runway soundtracks for Italian fashion designer Marcelo Burlon during Men’s Fashion Week in Milan for both FW20 and SS20.

Dice's distinctive fashion sense and strong visual aesthetic manifest in his collaborations with Amsterdam fashion label Daily Paper, pro sports hat purveyors New Era and in his own clothing brand Seran Bendecidos. 

All of this and his longevity prove that Loco Dice is undoubtedly an insatiable creative force most interested in the uncharted territory between genres and styles, the elements that link everything together.
