A force to be reckoned with in the music industry, Lucy Monkman a.k.a. Monki is set to make her debut on Hot Creations this April with the mighty Yurican Soul EP , featuring the vocals of award winning poet and song-writer Rosemarie Wilson a.k.a. Queen Rose on the B-side. 

A powerhouse of a track, Yurican Soul deploys tribal-esque themes that run throughout, with choppy percussion, hypnotic chants and acidic synth lines that steer into ravey territory. On the flip, Ring Ring continues in the same vein with a driving bassline, brought to fruition by the distinct vocals of Queen Rose. Monki explains that ''Hot Creations has been a label I've admired for years. Yurican Soul was inspired by one of my heroes Louis Vega and the old school sound of New York. While Ring Ring was an idea from the studio that was really driven by the bassline until Queen Rose jumped on and brought it to life; with her naughty, yet poetic take to the vocal.'' 

Monki has built a career which spans the worlds of music, sport, fashion and presenting. Having become highly respected as an electronic music tastemaker, she set up her own label &Friends in 2018 and as well as releasing on her own imprint has dropped tracks on respected labels such as Defected, Toolroom and Hottrax. After stepping down from her popular Radio 1 show, which ran every week for 6 years, during summer 2019 Monki embarked on a new fortnightly radio show with Defected, which is downloaded in its millions worldwide. Spotting and championing up-and-coming artists is integral to Monki’s daily life, which she also does by acting as an A&R consultant for Atlantic Records, the prestigious label which represents the likes of Stormzy and Ed Sheeran. 

Rosemarie Wilson a.k.a. Queen Rose is a poet, playwright, spoken word artist, singer, actress and filmmaker from Detroit. She has featured and written with dance music artists like Yuksek, King of The Rollers, Eli Brown and Luke Solomon. Rosemarie was named Motown Mic 2014 Performance Artist of the Year and is one of the first poets published under the Broadside-Lotus Press merger, two of the oldest African-American presses in the US.

We're Alive

September is almost gone now and elrow Music wants to put the icing to the summer cake with this 141st reference from the Barcelona-based label. The man behind this 'Red Card EP' is Mendo. The Swissman is dropping two dancefloor bombs for us, starting with the track naming the EP.

'Red Card (Original Mix)' is a pure tech house banger, with a steady vibe, soft and wooden percussion, a strong male vocal line and some whistles FX to adding some tropical flavors to the mix. After it, we find 'I Need It (Original Mix)', a more playful track, with the same kind of loose percussion, that builds up the energy in the dancefloor with a clear reminiscence to the 90s progressive dance vibe, but with a fresh and interesting tech house disguise. Then, Mendo arranges some really amazing sound FX, taken from the sexy female vocal line, which makes this track a true dancefloor bomb for any moment of the night.

Sidney Charles has built himself an impressive discography in the last couple of years and he makes his EP debut here at OFF with 2 outstanding singles.

The prolific Hamburg native brings rhythm to life with a 909 rendition to jackin house in "Jack On The Rocks", it's all about the classic vibe and the unmistakable shuffle in this one, while we bring Berlin's tech master Santé (Desolat/8Bit) to the remix decks to turn the track into a deeper bass-driven journey with added sax and a groove that will sure get them moving.

Second track is “Soul Station”, also another one for the dancefloor, more signature classic drums, this time with a groovy phat bassline and the ever-so-loved presence of a preacher vocal that sure does the trick…

From early breakout hit "Phat Dope Shit" in 2002 to "Heavy Heart", a new collaboration with Skrillex and Fireboy DML, Dice has always been in the headlines. After his debut album "7 Dunham Place" on his own now long-running and well-regarded Desolat in 2008, came the major label follow-up "Underground Sound Suicide" on Ultra Music with guests like Giggs, Just Blaze, and Neneh Cherry, then the agenda-setting and club-focussed house and techno showcase that was "Love Letters" in 2018. 

Add in tens of EPs on Ovum, Minus, Cocoon, to name a few, and his remixes from everyone from Kevin Saunderson to Moby, Black Coffee to Disclosure, Warren G to Basement Jaxx, Loco Dice has always been at the beating heart of the electronic scene. 

His DJ sets, too, always brim with personality, whether in a small underground basement or on an iconic main stage at some of the world's top festivals like EDC Ultra, Tomorrowland and Coachella to name a few, playing to thousands. He has had era-defining residencies at iconic Ibiza super clubs like Circoloco at DC-10 and on the Amnesia Terrace as well at Space Miami. 

His lockdown move has been to unveil En Coleur, a label reserved exclusively for his own music produced at that time. SB Recordings followed. A new label open to all styles of dance music.

Since day one Loco Dice constantly pushes the boundaries of techno and house music production, from his appearance in 2004 PlayStation2 game "Decks & FX" to cooking up his own ideal fusions of hip hop and electronic music with his FKD side project or writing critically acclaimed runway soundtracks for Italian fashion designer Marcelo Burlon during Men’s Fashion Week in Milan for both FW20 and SS20.

Dice's distinctive fashion sense and strong visual aesthetic manifest in his collaborations with Amsterdam fashion label Daily Paper, pro sports hat purveyors New Era and in his own clothing brand Seran Bendecidos. 

All of this and his longevity prove that Loco Dice is undoubtedly an insatiable creative force most interested in the uncharted territory between genres and styles, the elements that link everything together.
