DEEPER SHADES LOVES...
A new release series featuring 90s house music released previously only on Vinyl. Lars Behrenroth has been diggin' through his secret vinyl weapons and is making them available to the next generation of Djs.

We’re kicking it off with the Los Angeles based production team Teflon Dons and three tracks released between the years 1995 and 1999 on Worldship Music.
 


All New Gods 
Was a b side track on the debut white label 12" "Planet Eater EP" alongside the tracks "Planet Eater" and "Lockjaws Lament". Released in 1995 with a pressing of 500 units, this record established the Worldship sound with it's insert comic book graphic declaring "The Worldship is Coming" it is now a hard to find record with the only clue being a whitelabel is the worldship 13 etching on the vinyl.

Turbo Recordings presents the first in a series of club-conquering EPs from Duke Dumont.

From his excellent Fabric mix to a pretty untouchable remixography that has seen him take on tracks by artists as diverse as Bat for Lashes, Mystery Jets and ZZT, Duke Dumont is the sort of artist embraced by people who know their shit. People like us. Pathfinders. Truthtellers. Heroes.
 
This is the first in a series of "For Club Play Only" EPs, designed to harness Dumont's versatile stylistic mastery and let it explode in the faces of party people everywhere. "Street Walker" takes the intensity of paying for sex and spills it all over the dancefloor with a distorted vocal hook and alien warehouse vibes. Meanwhile, "Thunder Clap" answers the question, "What is the sound of one man jacking?" We've also included an Alternative Mix of "Street Walker," because it's great and because we want to give you the chance to sneer at people and say, "No, this is the alternative mix."

In the Age of 2012, producers who favor quality over quantity often get overshadowed by shameless goons who manage to spam their way into the discussion. Our fondest wish is to correct this, taking things to the point where someone like D-Du can't leave the house without being cherished.

Okay, ob die mehrfach Grammy-geehrte Jazz-Ikone Al Jarreau bei seinem 86er Hit tatsächlich schon an die zwölfte Cocoon-Compilation gedacht hatte, wissen wir leider nicht. Aber dass es bei der Cocoon Compilation L um Liebe geht, steht außer Frage: Die Liebe zur elektronischen Tanzmusik, zu ihrer Vielschichtigkeit und ihrem Facettenreichtum, die Liebe zu dieser globalen musikalischen Sprache und nicht zuletzt die Begeisterung für die bekannten und noch unbekannten Protagonisten dieser klanglichen Romanze, die uns seit über 30 Jahren treu durch Nacht und Tag begleitet. Und deswegen beginnt L mit einem ausgemachten Liebeslied: Das in Berlin residierende Duo Tale Of Us hat sich für "Equilibrio" gemeinsam mit ihren derzeit schwer angesagten Förderern Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson, Shaun Reeves und Lee Curtiss alias Visionquest ins Studio gesetzt. Herausgekommen ist dabei ein romantisches Sonett für das 21. Jahrhundert, dessen traumhaft dahin getupftes Klavier uns noch in so manchen Sonnenaufgang tragen wird – ein perfekter Start für diese Compilation. Weiter geht's mit den Tiefschwarz-Schützlingen Rampa & Re.You, deren letztjähriger Clubhit "Ghost" aus der zwölften Ibiza-Season nicht wegzudenken war. Auch "Yeah Yeah Yeah feat. Meggy" betört mit einzigartigem Gespür für soulige Vocals ohne barocken Zierrat, und mit seiner deepen Orgellinie gewinnt der trocken bassbetonte Trax-House eine ungeahnte emotionale Intensität. Der Londoner DJ Tim Green, bekannt für Releases auf Four Twenty, Trapez und nicht zuletzt für seine "Lemon"-EP für Cocoon Recordings aus dem vergangenen Jahr, generiert dann bei "Curious Smile" aus verspielten Keyboards-Improvisationen clubbezogenen und irgendwie doch scheuen Pop-House. So was würde man in einer besseren Welt im Formatradio hören.
Und auch im weiteren Verlauf der Compilation wird das Füllhorn voll ausgeschüttet: Das italienische Zweiergespann Doomwork, bekannt durch Tracks für 100%Pure und Tronic, verliert sich mit perkussivem Dub, wunderschönen Flächen und Zeitlupen-Vocals lustvoll im sommerlichen Raum-Zeit-Kontinuum, Graham Goodwin aka Sian pumpt mit "East Of Eden" sein subsonisches Ravesignal klar nach vorne und dürfte damit einige Club-PAs vor echte Herausforderungen stellen, der keine stilistischen Ängste kennende Keinemusik-Act Adam Port macht seiner Vorliebe für Boogie Bass auch mit "Black Noise" alle Ehre, während DJ-Weltenbummler und Tronic-Labelchef Christian Smith (zuletzt dank seiner Remixes für Carl Craig und Underworld in aller Munde) mit tropisch kraftvoller Energie auch große Tanzflächen garantiert zum Beben bringt. Zwei perkussiv betonte Energieinfusionen der Extraklasse zelebrieren dann Mark Reeve ("Planet Green") und der Pariser DJ Paul Ritch, dessen Kernaussage "music never separated people" gar nicht oft genug betont werden kann, während das niederländische Dreamteam Secret Cinema und Peter Horrevorts überraschend industriell geprägten Techno goutiert. Das Finale übernimmt dann der neben Guy Gerber bekannteste israelische Produzent Guy J, dessen "Genesis" ganz im Stile seiner Arbeiten für John Digweeds Bedrock-Label eine perfekte Balance zwischen hypnotischer Melodie und fordernder Rhythmik findet, bevor der Leipziger Daniel Stefanik tatsächlich den letzten Schlussakkord setzt. Das über zehnminütige "Everything Goes Green" erhebt das Warten auf den rechten Augenblick zu einer Kunstform und bringt die Geduld auf, mit fragmentierter Rhythmik geraspelte Schokolade statt überbordender Süße zu intonieren. Besser kann man jedenfalls die magische Intensität einer grandiosen Afterhour nicht für alle Zeiten festhalten. Wie gesagt, ein Album zum verlieben!

HARAEL SALKOW - Deep in December

Second part of Butch’s hot ‘Highbeams’ release features three great remixes of the original 12” by esteemed producers Maceo Plex, Miguel Campbell and PBR Streetgang.. hot as you like!!

Ellum label boss Maceo Plex steps up for the first interpretation of Highbeams and stays quite close to original whilst adding his typically tight drum programming and an electro infused bass line to the party.

On the flip and  its Miguel Campbell’s turn to refigure Highbeams and he does so by restructuring the original vocal around warm pads and a trademark bass line, giving it the usual injection of cosmic funk he has become so renowned for.

PBR Streetgang then throw in a classy remix of Faith characterised by detuned vocal chops, an infectious bass line and very tight production skills.

A great remix package for a great double header release..

Continuing the trend of breaking new artists, Klasse Recordings returns with a fresh new EP from equally fresh new artists. FJAAK are a three-piece production and DJ outfit hailing from Berlin. Young and full of energy these newcomers turn in a stunningly original and well-crafted EP that is well beyond their years.

The Remember Me EP kicks off with its title track, an all analogue journey into a trippy underworld of arpeggio basslines and wonky pads. Robotic voices boldly repeat refrains whilst synths fight for space over a cantankerous groove. The track drops twice with great effect, making a great use of space and suspense.

Small Gadget heads towards darker territories, sitting somewhere in between House, Techno and UK Rhythms the track builds itself around a huge pulsing bassline. Minimal in its construction, Small Gadget's strength lies in its functionality and those spaces inbetween the sounds. This is a guaranteed dancefloor destroyer.

Seven Miles High is the deepest of the three originals, warm pads and dreamy stabs create an intro that effortlessly transports the listener to a lowdown and nasty bassline. FJAAK once again utilize broken beats and off-kilter rhythms to their advantage, the resulting track is a fantastic mix of deep, raw and groovy elements.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Clone Recordings regular Arttu to Klasse. The now Berlin-based Fin turns in two remixes for the Remember Me EP. Remix Number One is a blistering and fuzzy trip into the mind of Arttu and his synthetic friends, a detuned melody repeats over playful drum machine grooves whilst the original pads sit over the track. Remix Number One is available only on the KLS026 vinyl.

Arttu's Remix Number Two is a different beast altogether, aimed squarely at a deranged dancefloor somewhere in the future the track relies on the original's hooky melody. Arttu takes the original parts and mangles them together with distortion and hiss, shuffling snares and random hi hats create a manic groove that only the loosest can get down to.

Second up for the remix team is American producer and WT Records owner Willie Burns, Mr. Burns' work has recently been showcased on L.I.E.S, Clone and Trilogy Tapes and we're very lucky to have him on board for KLS026. Sounding like a long-forgotten Italo-Electro-EBM crossover hit, Willie Burns' re-works the arpeggios and vocals into a much darker and spooky direction....direct and straight to the point, the remix wastes no time getting stuck into the thick of it.

Still fresh from his debut full length Traces last year, Delta Dunktionen is back with his first EP of the year. As well a new track, it features a special Karenn remix of ‘Onkalo’, a track previously released on Traces, as well as ‘Challenger’ from the same album.

The first original is ‘Sun Storm’ with its tumbling Chicago drums, chattering claps and sci-fi swirls all adding up to something that’s as heady as it is futuristic. ‘Challenger’ – previously cd/digi only - on the other hand sounds like a much more calm and serene trip through the cosmos, with slowed electro stylings and plenty of occult details coming over like the soundtrack to a film as much as a darkened dancefloor.

Uncompromising techno pair Blawan and Pariah a.k.a. Karenn turns in an unsurprisingly brutish version of ‘Onkalo’ that spits and skips through industrial drums, fizzing machine noises and sombre horn sounds. Evil!
