Exclusive GROJ 'Bunk Up (Clarian's Island 88 Remix)'

Montreal artist Kevin Jamey alias GROJ, who delivered a stunning EP on HOSH's label Fryhide earlier this year, is responsible for microCastle's third EP, 'Bunk Up', of 2018, which comes along with three original tracks and a remix from Clarian for the EP's title track 'Bunk Up'. The remixer, having released on labels such as Life And Death, Kompakt or Guy Gerber's Rumors, rides the new wave train with his approach as the original take sets exactly this tone. Nonetheless, Clarian's interpretation of the original covers the artist's preference for creating disharmonious soundscapes that entirely looked at initiate a symphoniously sounding musical experience and unites the vocal deeply with the instrumental level.

GROJ's EP 'Bunk Up' will be released on November 16th, 2018 on microCastle.

Another raft of positively vibrant club tunes are assembled for the sixth volume in the Street Tracks Imprint series, and as always, new talent takes centre stage on these multi-artist EPs.

Felix Smith may be a new name on the block, but the author of ‘Deep Dish Pizza’ is a highly prolific British house producer masquerading under an alias, and it shows, as ‘NYC Sound Factory’ style vibes are strewn all over this heater of a track.  The golden age of techno/rave is evoked on Code R’s ‘Rave 89’, as frantic 909 hats, frenetic breakbeats and classic stab sounds rain down on a splendiferous production, whilst My Friend (FFRR/Anjunabeats) come correct with the slick and progressive ‘Nightrider’, with its driving percussive rhythm and thick arpeggiated synths.

Part 2 of Hyenah’s fantastic Watergate 27 mix is ripe for the picking.

The inspiring DJ/producer, RISE founder and integral Watergate resident has carefully selected and curated a vibrant house mix that touches all corners of the genre and refreshingly showcases artists outside the normal European hotspots.

The second sampler opens with Super Flu’s ‘Effretikon’, a track with the right amount of energy and tweaked-out synth touches to keep your listeners guessing. Pablo Fierro shares his ‘Reincarnation’, filled to the brim with tropical flavours. Floyd Lavine features again, following up his collaboration with Hyenah on the first V.A sampler. This time the Cape Town-born, Berlin-based artist has re-worked Kerri Chandler’s ‘Think of Something’ into a tribal monster, after the original first featured on Watergate Records back in 2014. Lyon artist and former RISE guest Manoo’s ‘De’s Lullaby’ is awash in a river of silky synths and uplifting rhythms. 

FNX Omar, from Morocco, provides a terrific and trippy after-hours gem with ‘Minuit’. The pairing of Lemon & Herb is from the Kwazulu Natal Province in South Africa and have crafted a transcendental house cut that makes them one to watch. AMEME is another new face. While now residing in Brooklyn, NYC, he was born in Benin, a country neighbouring Nigeria and his first release on WG is a rousing Afro house piece that’s bang on-point.
