Mayhem & Logam are back for the ninth installment on Santoku Records. The two Atlanta heavyweights maintain a consistent style that showcases their love for both Neuro and Minimal funk. SAN009 is a dynamic release, representing the manifold layers that comprise Drum and Bass music. Intense, intelligent, innovative, and intriguing; “Infinity” has plenty of vibes for the deep heads and just enough grit for the “bass face” lovers.

The title track is a precision piece of neuro funk primed to sweep feet across any dance floor. Infinity builds from an intriguing array of synths that merge gracefully into an attention grabbing melody right before your ears; creating the space for the clean and somewhat nostalgic drum beats to flow in smoothly and coalesce the sounds into a single shape. This shape is given extra dimension when the in your face bass line drops, focusing the track’s energy and setting your shoes to auto pilot. The song weaves in and out of its layers and give this A-side credence to it naming, arranging an infinite mind scape and maintaing a constant groove sure to satisfy your head space and your bass face.

Backing up this solid piece of work, is an equally as masterful, while different style of cut on the rear side of the release. Aphelion combines a lush and deep sound with underground darkness that swells together as a remarkable piece of progressive drum and bass from the minimal spectrum of the genre’s wide lens. Crystal clean and chilled out sounds are the foundation that the track builds on, creating an ice cold zone that is quickly juxtaposed by a rumbling and gritty low-end attack. The track maintains this love/hate relationship following spaced out sonics through the breakdown before hammering home with its blistering bass line business; sure to cross arms, rock shoulders, and bob heads from front to back. Not one to miss, this track’s sure to light fire to your sets unexpectedly, this B-side is prone to be quite the weapon for drum and bass Dj’s across a range of sounds.

Mayhem and I are back! Well to be honest we never really stopped working together, more like we hit pause. We've just been working on other projects separately lately but definitely have way more tunes in the works that will see the light of day at some point. A remix we did for the Camp Bisco RMX competition. We found out about it 5 days prior to the ending. We were able to work on it 4 days later. Thus, its a one day remix, wish we had more time, would have done more edits n such. We ended up in first place and somehow still didn't win. Go figure. Anyway, our loss is your gain. Disco Biscuits On Time LOGAM & TL RMX (FREE DOWNLOAD!!!)

2017 marks the five year anniversary for Santoku, a definitive label for not just the US drum & bass scene but also globally. They pride themselves on being a platform for both European and American talent, which is exactly what their Go Nen album sampler presents with each of the unique sonic cuts displayed on its track listing. With records from Diode, dLo, Mean Teeth, Kodin, Horde and Hajimari, you’re pulled into a colour-wheel of musicality from start to finish. And lead by label-head honcho Logam, who appears alongside M.Justa, it’s no surprise that Santoku has already manifested a stellar reputation in under a decade.

Diode’s ‘Heinous’ begins the album, with a foreboding intro which suddenly chops and changes whilst catapulting you down a chasm of spitting beats. Each rumbling bass note pulls you in further and further, leaving you gasping for breath beneath its weight. Veteran producer dLo from Austin adds his track ‘Clapback’, with the same passion, technical skills and keen ear which has pushed Santoku into the forefront recently, alongside snapping percussion and a guttural bassline. Then comes Mean Teeth’s ‘Time Shift’, presenting why they’re such hotly tipped newcomers and pushing forward on segments of crushing LFO. Logam and M.Justa delivers their collaboration ‘Dream Catcher’, a more ethereal liquid offering with a steppy melody which weaves itself throughout the mix. Kodin’s ‘Pillow Puncher’ steps up next, crashing forward on old-school breakdowns and snapping drum patterns which become more and more incessant with every beat loop. Horde’s ‘Concession’ is just as ominous, with a ticking intro that gradually winds further and further into minimalistic, snapping layers of sound. And lastly, Hajimari draws for ‘Get Lost’, featuring the vocal overtones of Cluda, throwing up an ingenuity which ruminates throughout the entirety of Santoku’s back catalogue.

As a collection, the Go Nen album is the perfect way to immortalise Santoku’s legacy. With every release they’ve unleashed this year, they’ve made more and more of an impact and the Go Nen LP is their final word for this year. Into their sixth year, they’ll continue to be an independent who pushes the boundaries whilst still catering to a huge array of tastes.

The world's seminal drum & bass festival is nearly upon us and in celebration the twenty five year strong Ram Records label are about to drop yet another compilation EP to announce their 2018 stage takeover. The track listing is as weighty as the artists they'll be bringing along to Let it Roll this year; packed with seven new exclusives, from a range of producers both within the Ram roster as well as guests who've delivered a range of heaters throughout the imprint's back catalogue, it's sure to set the motions in place for the Let it Roll countdown.

Whether it's the indisputably emotive formula of Sound in Noise's offering 'The Prophet', or Audio's rework of his collaboration 'Creatures' with MC Nuklear and Prolix, there's a range of production styles which epitomise how diverse Ram has come to be over two decades. Freek's 'Human Being' channels the artist's tell-tale, bouncy signature whilst newcomer Kung crashes forward with the thumping bass peddles and rowdy drum sequences of 'Eunoia'. Having risen to prominence as one third of the Legion & Logam trio, Logam is no stranger to making waves in the musical world. His first non-solo release on Program – vocal roller ‘House Of Cards’ – caught the rightful attention of some of dance music’s most influential tastemakers. In addition to this accompanied success, it has also been Logam’s independent talents which have helped him go from strength to strength over the last twelve years. His immense skill has seen him work in collaboration with old-school veteran Mayhem and set up his own label (Santoku Records). But now he’s set to release a record which is the latest addition to Program’s highly sought-after catalogue.

‘Back & Forth’ features the fierce, gutsy vocals of Armanni Reign, his signature tones nestled in amongst the tune’s ever-developing, carefully constructed multiplex of audio. Concurrent with the rising tension and complexity of the soundscape, they intensify: Reign’s voice stretches to its furthest heights where it underpins evocative builds towards some mighty crescendos. Despite its simple lyrical base, the tune’s speedy, kicking percussion conjures up an otherworldly level of liveliness: its core is punctuated by sawing, deep-bass dips and powerful, punching synth notes.

From more exotic beginnings which feature subtle Djembe drumbeats, the sudden interjection of a crisp, tumbling bassline acts as a sign of what’s to come. Logam throws us expertly into the deepest, darkest corners of the drum and bass realms, from which there’s no escape bar an evocative, still-frantic central break. ‘Back & Forth’ is just one example of the artist’s ability to deliver abounding versatility with every new addition to his musical collection. So once again, it’s to time get with the Program and prepare yourself for massive energy whilst into the limitless world of Logam.

Well here it is! My metal remix of GTFU by TC! Yes you read that right, this is straight up METAL. I did keep it at 174bpm and I'm pretty sure I didn't stray from 4/4 timing, its formulated like a DNB track, and I added a Sub layer, but aside from that it's a metal tune from start to finish. I programmed all the drums and recorded all the guitars and bass guitar. Shout out to TC for the opportunity! \m/

In 2009, on a typical sunny day in downtown Los Angeles, Gridlok was at his home studio fiercely working on his next album. Meanwhile a few floors above, a young woman was standing on the edge of his roof staring through the Los Angeles skyline contemplating about how her American Dream died long ago. While deeply focused on his task at hand, Gridlok was suddenly distracted by a loud scream, and then a bang, and then silence...

"American Dream" is inspired by this true event and pays homage to those who have lost their dreams. May we never lose ours.
