Real life epitome of a modern techno lifestyle to some, Dusk has come a long way, baby. He began DJing in 1995, started one of eastern germany's longest running techno clubs (Kesselhaus Singwitz) in 1998 and has been active ever since. 2021 finds him just where he left, still at the decks, still kicking and still looking for those moments, when the music used to make you smile...

Als DJ-Veteran mittlerweile für viele der Inbegriff des im Realen angelangten Techno-Lifestyles. Dusk hat einen weiten Weg hinter sich, hat schon gespielt, als Techno noch das nächste große Ding war und die Dancefloors schwarz und ruppig. Als Head of Kesselhaus hat er in Singwitz einiges an Spirit rüber gerettet in die Neuzeit, spielt immer noch, ist immer noch geil. Ist immer noch mit den Fingerspitzen an den Reglern, mit dem Kopf in den Wolken, mit dem Herz auf dem Dancefloor. Nimmt Dich mit... und Augen zu ... und fliegen, los.

Echofront is an album that lives in the tension between shadow and radiance, between the ruins of memory and the pulse of the present. The songs unfold as fragments - half-dreamt images of stone, glass, fire, rivers, and neon - stitched into the rhythm of melodic techno. These lyrics trace the outlines of spaces where silence gathers force: cathedrals crumbling under rain, tunnels painted with defiance, rivers carrying ancestral masks, and cities burning into light. Each track is an echo carried forward, a resonance that reveals both fragility and persistence, where every fracture or stain also hints at renewal. The music embraces this ambiguity, weaving deep beats with textures that shimmer, fracture, and reform, as if sound itself were both memory and prophecy.

At the heart of the album is the idea of the echo not as repetition, but as transformation. Echoes blur time, bending it into seams where identity slips, boundaries dissolve, and breath becomes dream. Echofront steps into those seams, letting voices fade and return in altered forms, letting rhythms erode and rebuild, letting light refract into the darkness. The music is neither nostalgic nor utopian, but rather a navigation of thresholds - of endings that carry within them the charge of beginnings, of masks that reveal by concealing, of serpents that coil both danger and desire. In this way, the album moves like a front advancing across shifting terrain: charged with energy, haunted by silence, and always carrying the possibility of becoming something new.

Starting off 2021 with a new episode full of hope and inspiration! I was joined by Max aka @cook-strummer while we met with distance a couple weeks back. Max brings everything together when you think of a mastermind: he plays many instruments, is a talented sound engineer and producer, his voice is unique, his lyrics are touching. His releases are published by very grounded Berlin labels such as @katermukke, @get-physical-music, and @criminalbassline, and that is not all. 
We speak about his early beginnings in darker times in his life, and his move from Brussels to Berlin. Tune in for some positive vibes during, and also just because of the pandemic. He explains how he learned to accept himself, for instance by giving to other people. He talks about the “path of the soul” and we take a deep dive into what it takes to have a happy life. Enjoy!
