🔸 Neowise is the Julien Cloud and Vaälha’s duo, both from west of France. During the first lockdown in 2020, they isolated themselves in the countryside in order to give birth to their project and thus create their first eponymous EP.
During their DJ set, the duo navigate between Italo Disco, Indie Dance and EBM-Techno like the comet that inspired their name.

Lovers Frequencies | #7 Neowise

Sometimes we may forget, because it almost vanished as quickly as it came, but we spent a lot of time in doubt and uncertainty during the hard times of lockdown. This is when the French duo Neowise decide to isolate themselves in the countryside and focus on music, leading to the birth of their first EP on Nein records in 2021. This first release crystallized their desire to reconcile the 80’s music with the underground techno of the present day. Since then they have been quite active both in producing; with releases on @ullarecords @quixoticalrecords or  @midnight_people. Within Neowise’s style you will find influences from rock music, or SF movies soundtracks, to create a unique melting pot. For this 14th set of the Italo Heat series they cooked us a a smooth and shiny set with a touch of darkness, perfect for a friday that will lead to a friday night… Thanks so much for sharing ! PS : if i were you I would listen until the end for that unreleased track!

When it started to rain heavily on Sunday, I briefly thought that my gig might be washed away. But luckily the weather gods had mercy. It had stopped by the time the first notes of my set rang out and during the next two hours the sky got brighter and brighter so that I could even see some blue at the end. Combined with so many happy faces on the dancefloor, the powerful sound system and this beautiful stage, I simply had a lovely time!
Thanks to everyone who made this possible. 
I'm super grateful and hope you enjoy listening to this set as much as I enjoyed playing it.

Marge & The Marvellous - A Distant Dance (Flemming Dalum)

East Wall was an Italian electronic dark wave band formed by Fabrizio Chiari (ex keyboardist of Kirlian Camera) and Wilma Notari in 1982. After a series of demos  and live performances, the duo recruited Angelo Bergamini of Kirlian Camera to help with arrangement and synthesizers. In September 1984 they booked a recording time at Master Studio 33 in Cremona Italy. Working with produced Ray Masola, they recorded their debut single “Eyes Of Glass”, which was released on No Comment in early 1985. The equipment set up was a PPG Wave 2, Roland ProMars, Roland Juno 60, Simmons drum, and an upright piano. “Eyes Of Glass” is an outstanding example of 1980s Italo disco full of dark, moody atmosphere and depth. Wilma Notari’s coy vocals cast a spell on the listener as she weaves a story about lost love and “bitter tears”. Included here are the original extended 12” mix and instrumental version with mid-song breakdown and dubbed out chorus.

All songs are remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Housed in the original jacket featuring a photo of a boy by Pushe 27.  Each copy includes a 2-sided postcard with photos of the band, lyrics, and liner notes by Flemming Dalum.

3 QUESTIONS to KOLLEKTIV OST:

Q: Talking about your mix: What did these tracks mean to you once and what do they still mean to you today?

A: We could have taken hundreds of titles and we are very happy with the current selection, because they represent exactly the titles that have shaped and moved us. All these titles blew us away back then and still do today.  Some of them we play even today, if it fits. These titles are simply evergreens for us.

Q: In times of Corona and shutdown of all possibilities for us artists to perform your music on stage: How do you spend your days?

A: We just try to make the best of the situation.  Currently we spend a lot of time in the studio and work on different projects. Apart from that, we also try to think about the simple things in life without a lot of hustle and bustle. We both live in rural areas in the beautiful Mecklenburg Vorpommern and like to spend a lot of time outside with our dogs.

Q: On which future projects are you currently working on - so what to expect the next few months?

A: We are currently working on some remixes and also own releases. Another heart project, which we are now rolling out again, is to bring our own label back to life after 6 years. We are full of zest for action and are looking forward to everything that is coming! Even though the world is upside down and we are all being put to a hard test, we must not forget that health comes first and that we are thankful to be healthy. We are optimistic that we will all be able to dance together again soon and one thing is clear, that music connects us all, no matter where we are.  Stay healthy out there!
