ORGANIC

With Lifeless Ground, Sjellos plunges listeners back into the dark, mechanical abyss introduced on his last album Transmission Lost (2013), intensifying the grim sense of desolation and uncertainty. Here, every sound, every shift of air, hints at something unknown and unsettling lurking just out of reach—or perhaps closer than you dare to imagine.

As you strain to listen, faint echoes reverberate through the bleak silence, but their source remains hidden. It’s been decades since you felt anything familiar; now, even the texture of the ground beneath you feels foreign, as if you've stepped into another world—or become someone else. Each attempt to move brings flashes of forgotten memories, fractured images of a past life. As they piece together, you question not just where you are but who you are. Something unidentifiable has changed, leaving only a path ahead, one marked by the relentless pull of transformation.

Supra Memoriam is an album about ancient memory, or rather about what lies beyond it, the great flow of power that awakens in an industrial society devastated by wars and crises. Drowning out their own thoughts with the noise of factory machines, not giving their hands a rest in endlessly repeating mechanical movements, disappointed and depressed, people will reject scientific progress and the dogmas of ideologies. And they will reach for what is beyond, for what was long forgotten — and the great flow will rush out, and the witches will be reborn. And what was locked in the chest will begin to seek oblation.

This original orchestral piece sounds a little like orchestral/soundtrack film music but that was not the original intent. Although i do love film music too. As they always say, music is the flower of feeling and I hope that came across. Maybe I was just so appreciative to know that spring was coming after a very cold winter? A new beginning.

Emergence [Orchestral/Film music]

This track is my very personal take at the Koan "Hear the Clap of your Hand". My lyrics version (https://soundcloud.com/konrad-spittelberg/the-clap-of-one-hand-pp) might make things clearer. (yes, this is my sneaky strategy to guide you from one song to another :-))

Compositionwise, the track is roughly split into two equal parts. The first part introduces its cinematic theme in the very beginning, taking it thereafter up several times with slightly different accentuations and rhythms which gives it a fresh feel with different highlighted nuances in each repetition. Several interludes contribute to the cinematic feeling. 

The second part, starting @1.53 starts by a more Jazzy version of the main theme. However, from 2.20 onwards, it is very restricted in its harmonies - only two harmonies are used from thereon until the end, C major and C# major. The tension arises purely from the rhythmic changes (such as the shift from 4/4 to 3/4 @3.17 and back), climaxing at the end.
