Qu'est-ce qui t'a fait tomber amoureux·se de la downtempo ?
Quand j’ai découvert la downtempo, je suis d’abord tombé·e amoureux·se de la lenteur, la profondeur du groove, et la délicatesse du sound design. C’était comme si j’avais enfin trouvé mon rythme, musicalement parlant.
Mais je ne m’attendais pas du tout à ce que la downtempo mette en lumière toute une partie de moi. Ca a révélé une partie de mon identité, une facette qui était endormie, ou peut-être trop timide, trop anxieuse, pour se montrer. C’était comme une graine qui a éclôt. J’aime bien utiliser l’image d’une petite créature, appelons-la comme ça. Et en se réveillant, cette petite chose a créé un espace autour d’elle. Un terrain doux, chaleureux, où elle pouvait s’enraciner et fleurir… un peu comme un utérus finalement.
J’ai trouvé dans cet espace un refuge, un havre dans lequel je me sens en sécurité, dans lequel je peux aller explorer, jouer, m’amuser et expérimenter, un endroit où ce fragment de ma personne a pu grandir... pour finalement devenir une assez grande partie de ma vie.
Je me demande souvent si mes refuges risquent de devenir mes tombeaux, mais dans ce cas je crois que c’est l'inverse. C’est plutôt un endroit fertile, créateur, où les choses grandissent et évoluent.
Donc la downtempo m’a finalement permis·e de connecter avec cet aspect de moi, et de pouvoir avoir confiance en en lui. 

Quelle émotion ou pouvoir magique de la downtempo tu explores dans ton set et pourquoi ?
L’aspect de la downtempo que j’explore dans ce set, et que j’essaie d’atteindre dans chaque set en réalité, c'est le groove. Pour moi, le groove c’est cette substance toute-puissante et vraiment mystérieuse qui prend possession de ton corps, s’empare de ton coeur, qui vient gratter ta psyché et te prend aux tripes, tout ça à la fois. C’est comme un langage, qui traduit tes émotions en mouvement.

Tranquil Mindscapes: Part IV

We all know this moment - you are lying in bed with a loved one and the world stands still.

You put on some music to set the scene for rising temperatures under the sheets…

The set you put on suddenly brings you out of rhythm, but getting up to skip the track is no longer an option.

We have been scouting for the perfect Sunday morning sets for quite a while already and while "Eigentlich heissen wir Klaus" & "Mattmosphere" have been steady suppliers of them for us, we also developed the idea of asking befriended artists to record one hour of music, to which they like to stay in bed with a loved one.

It's an intimate ask, but most of them said yes.

For Cuddle Cast #30 we asked our long time friend and Hugger @skaruu to record one hour of cuddly music for you all.
