It’s time for Father Funk to get the party started: this Friday, he returns to Dirt Monkey’s 19K imprint for his rapturous Boogie Time EP complete with three funk-fueled cuts. Since releasing his full-length record Funkstep last year through 19K, Father Funk has become bass music’s grooviest act and continues to challenge the boundaries of genre on his latest work.

Father Funk links with vocalist Jozy to open Boogie Time: “Renaissance” bursts through the speakers with a funky hip-hop flair powered by Jozy’s spunky vocals and Father Funk’s irresistible grooves. Inviting, energetic, and unforgettable, “Renaissance” is just a taste of what’s to come. Next up, the EP’s title track ramps up the excitement right from the get-go: “Boogie Time” opens with a gloriously funky bassline and disco vibes all over the place. Father Funk demonstrates his bass-driven funk when the beat drops, flexing his one-of-a-kind sound design and unparalleled style of production as a whole. This funk-meets-glitch-hop crossover is the antidote for when you’re feeling low and need a solid pick-me-up in the form of colorful sound.

To close the EP, Father Funk offers the seemingly peaceful “Wondering,” luring in listeners with a soft piano until he enters the soundscape with a fat bassline and bouncy percussion. At the drop, Father Funk crafts an ultra-satisfying beat driven by glitch hop elements and melodious synths, a combination that will get any music lover on their feet.

Altogether, Boogie Time tells the story of a funk obsessed producer with the drive to challenge the status quo through his music — Father Funk has lived up to his name time and again, but Boogie Time takes the cake for his most
innovative release to date.

“I'm SO excited to finally release my brand new EP Boogie Time,” Father Funk says. “It’s been such a long time since I put out a whole EP of midtempo bangers, and with this EP I wanted to update the classic Father Funk sound for 2021 by incorporating more complex sound design and by spending more time getting the production to as high a standard as I possibly could. I’m also super stoked to be releasing a track with the incredibly talented Jozy — we have worked together for a number of years, but this is the first track of ours to come out. Longwalkshortdock esentially started the first time Dave King heard gritty electronic music in early eighties videogames. Strongly influenced by these sounds and melodys, Dave started recording and looping segments as a child. He also got a taste for sampling and recording; taping segments of his piano practice to fool his parents into thinking he was practicing in the other room when he was really playing nintendo (note : actually practicing might have served him better). Currently, a veteran of sound design and electronic music production for well over a decade, Longwalkshortdock's music has stepped into a genre of its own. Heavily influnced by early 80s video game music, metal and rock music, found-sound and vintage analog synthesis, he stacks layers of melody in his tracks until they implode and reform. Heavy drums and aggresive synths join forces with rolling grooves and melodic lead lines to create a wide variety of slamming dance floor originals. Lesser known fact : Not limited to dance music, LWSD's music crosses into many territories. His vast catalogue of hundreds of songs dives into ambient, IDM, electro, acid, house, big beat, indie rock, drones, electronica and down tempo. Dave holds two degrees from the Art Institute of Burnaby for Music Recording and Production. Playing songs and remixes he wrote and produced, Longwalkshortdock performs live PA with live vocals, synthesizers, drum machines, guitar, effects, toys, computers and even some of his own strobes and lighting. Know for his increadably "enthusiastic" performances, longwalkshortdock creates an undeniable stage presence and visceral experience at a show. Break through performances at Soundwave 2009 and Shambhala 2010 have made LWSD an artist to watch out for. He was even recently featured on the legendary Annie Nightingales pod cast on BBC radio 1 as a result of a review received about his "smashing" Shambhala 2011 performance. Longwalkshortdock has performed live with the likes of Phil Western (Download, Skinny Puppy, Kone) and opened for talented artists like, MSTRKRFT, Opiuo, Junkie XL, Vibesquad, Alex Patterson (The Orb), Mimosa, Adam Freeland, Shout out out out out and Matt the Alien too name a few. Always working to enhance and upgrade the LWSD live experience Dave is currently in the process of collaborating with veteran of visual wizardry Tim Hill of RIM Visuals. Using at least 10 projectors loaded with custom content, the live LWSD experience is nothing short of a full venue transformation into a etherial and immersive light cube of doom! Longwalkshortdocks second self-released record entitled "Bigger Fish Frying" follows up on his debut album "Casual Tea" with many signs of progress and promise. Final point of note : Did you know they found him in a cave on the moon? Thats what i heard...
