3kelves is taewook 루카스 kang. Originally born in South Korea, now located in San Francisco, he broke out on the scene by winning Disclosure's remix contest — twice!  This brought him worldwide recognition, with spins on BBC Radio 1, Capital Dance, and opening sets for acts like Purple Disco Machine, Chromeo, and SG Lewis.  He now makes his transition to full-on poet, with an EP that showcases his sense of groove, while also delving into deeper subjects.  He calls this an EP of existentialist disco jams.

DFRA aka Diego Ruiz gets in the mix to represent the first in a series of collaborative EPs on Vibes & Grooves, featuring the Colombian-born, Argentinian-based producer in solo mode, as well as a track from his collaboration with singer Agus Morgavi, The 89 Project, and two from Shaka. It’s “a mix between deep, jazzy and more classic sounds, with Afro influences,” tells us.

This week we have a true rising star on the podcast in MAXJAX.

He sent us over this note along with this killer deep / tech mix.

" I’m MAXJAX, a 14-year-old DJ and Music Producer from England and my deep/tech house music vibes have raised many eyebrows within the music industry from famous DJs and Producers worldwide.

In Lockdown, I decided to produce a beat to play alongside my guitar. I had a play around on GarageBand, and stumbled across making many different genres, including Jazz, Hip-Hop, EDM, and many more, until I found a genre that came completely natural to me… DEEP HOUSE.

Since then, I learnt ableton, which is my go-to DAW and any minute I get, I jump on ableton (or play football).

On my 11th birthday, I got some DJ equipment and ever since, I’ve played at multiple gigs, as well as receiving a residency with UNDRGRND EVENT and SUPERTEENZ

My relationship with Jovonn sparked from me posting a video of me making my track ‘‘Don’t’’ and later that evening, Jovonn got in contact with my parents, wishing to sign my track.

During my journey, I have visited defected’s HQ in shoreditch and met the likes of Jovonn, Cinthie, Rio Tashan, Stanley Hood and more! I can’t wait for what the future holds."

Iain - Resident Mix - 073

The series has hit a milestone of 30 mixes with the latest addition to the Selected Timbres family. Specializing in a multitude of styles and genres, Duktus has continuously taken up space on my record shelf and hard drive. With releases on some amazing labels including BlaqNumbers and OutRun Records, I was super grateful and excited to get him on the series. 

With this mix he showcased his deep house side of his moniker as we take an audial journey to Leipzig. You'll be treated to a vinyl only mix today with the first half showcasing some of Leipzig's finest. And I think that's pretty cool. :)

You may also notice two new friends who have joined Duktus in the cover photo of this mix. My new friends were crafted and gifted to me by Duktus himself, and it really showed me what a genuine guy he was. The excitement I sensed from him when I asked to be on the series was reassurance, albeit unneccessary, that he was the right man for this milestone mix.

Claus Casper has pulled out all the stops as he takes to the controls for our 200th guest mix. 

From being a 90s club kid to playing iconic venues like Warehouse, The Funky Chicke Club or even the Space Ibiza terrace, Claus Casper has some stories to tell.

Nowadays his back catalogue reads like a who's who in house music with esteemed labels like Exploited, True Romance, Glasgow Underground, Mother Recordings and Future Disco. 

His tracks are championed by Mousse T., Tensnake, Claptone or Pete Tong, and been remixed by heavyweights like Gerd Janson, Smash TV or Superlover to name a few.

With a trademark sound spanning from disco to french house, indie dance to early rave, and italo disco to classic house, you can never be sure what to expect next from the prolific dj and producer.
