"Set it off"


I've been playing D&B since the late 90s and used to have regular nights DJing and MCing at Blue Dog and Tokyo Bar along with places like Reggies, Purple Haze, Flipsides, and Angels.  For those who recognize any of those names you'll know it's been a while since I played out since they are all long-gone :D  I also had regular radio shows all through cegep and uni at CIXS and CJLO.  Starting with an Acid Jazz show (again, it's been a while) and into mostly Jungle/D&B with some HipHop/Downtempo excursions as well.  I still really enjoy a lot of this music so about 15 years ago I started this studio mix series Beat Induction as a way to listen to my favorite recent tunes.

I have mixes on a handful of burner SC accounts but I'm planning on gradually bringing everything over to this Fat Pilot Recordings page now that I've  gone for a pro account.  There's the Beat Induction series which is all D&B and then a few other Mix series which are more Mixtapey with varied genres and vibes.

I quite enjoy heavy/minimal/tech D&B with an ear for melody.  I do find myself much more influenced by Techno DJs these days than contemporary D&B mixers - I prefer to focus on creating a vibe through long mixes and steady transitions rather than trying to keep switching from drop to drop.
