A surefire provider in Amsterdam’s well-furnished techno community, Hitam has been making a name for himself with some choice platters for the likes of SYXT, Hayes and Room Trax over the last couple of years. Championing a sound as ebulliently driving as it invites us to dip our toes into further hazy sonic grounds, the Dutch producer swings the pendulum betwixt racing 909-fuelled horsepower and more subdued, fearsome climates. As ever clinical in his approach and deadly in his execution, Hitam has us tripping out to a hefty-handed two hours of relentless tech rage and hypnotic sound design laced into one smouldering hodgepodge of whelming, non-stop gusty sonics. 01366 resident Larry Ferrari Aka Aristydes lands on Loopaina delivering a four deck session… etc 

Cinematographic, rolling ethereal techno.  Those are the words with which the Barcelona based artist Aristydes defines his driving sound. Fast paced energetic rhythms - coming from his Caribbean roots - meticulously verge into the mix with dreamy atmospheres inspired by the foggy and mountainous landscapes of Lake Garda in North Italy where he grew up. 

Four decks, sexy and raw yet designed to be hypnotic his way of conceiving techno draw the listeners in for the duration making them lose sight of time and space while narrating mankind’s ancient tale of dancing around the fire at the rhythm of the bass drum.
His mixing skills have opened him the door of some of Barcelona most renowned clubs like Garage of The Bass Valley, Jaggis Techno Culture or Altlantic Club by Amnesia Ibiza. Aristydes also had the opportunity to showcase his sound internationally playing in underground venues like the Glove that Fits in London, Republika Bar in Riga and VoyVoy in Dominican Republic, where he is pioneering raw/deep/hypnotic techno sounds on the island local community.

Larry Ferrari, class ‘98,  had already the pleasure to share decks with mind-alike artists forging the new generation of techno - Rene Wise, Arthur Robert, Blanka & Angioma [Room Trax], Marrøn and Windfhur [ Eerste Communie ] or Future 666 [BCCO] - among others. 

To understand Aristydes standpoint on techno it has to be seen on the wider spectrum as he has travelled the world for eight years, studying International Relations and investigating- as he likes to call it - “anthropology of the dance-floor”. 
The cities were he spents most of his live are New York and Barcelona, the latter where he has his residency with his collective 01366. 

Larry Artistides Ferrari - his complete name - has devoted plenty of academical research on peace building and raving, specifically the applications of the human act of dancing together as a tool for conflict resolution &  community creation. 
He has wrote different research papers exposing how the Georgian community revived from the conflict with the help of the local techno scene, in particular the Bassiani case.  
He plans into keep investigating peace building and techno in post conflict scenarios.

VIL joins for DifferentSound Podcast #222.

Electronic dance music and beyond
Nuno Costa began his ventures into electronic music in 2008 with his Sinner moniker, and with it he created Warface, a local crew and promoter focused on dubstep, drum ’n’ bass, and UK garage.

In 2013 he kickstarted his new project, VIL, focusing mainly on techno, electro, breaks, and house music. His debut EP came in early 2015, when Portuguese label Extended Records picked him up for a release. Soon after, he released on Lewis Fautzi’s “Faut Section” imprint and on the legendary Synewave New York, run by Damon Wild.

VIL’s refined taste and set building ability has already earned him a place at some of the best clubs in the country, of which Lux Frágil and Gare are included, and is a regular presence at many of the country’s festivals as well. Fast forward to 2018, where alongside Portuguese artists Temudo and menosdois, he creates Hayes, a collective focused on showcasing the distinct output of its artists through vinyl and digital releases. Already counting four vinyl releases since its inception and garnering support by some of the biggest name in the scene, Hayes turns out to be one the most promising labels to rise during the pandemic.

Furthermore VIL used the extended time in the studio between 2020 and 2021 to place his output on renowned labels outside of his own realm. Landing highly anticipated EPs both on Ben Klock’s seminal label Klockworks and Stranger’s Self Reflektion further bolsters his studio proficiency.
