For this Livestream we chose the Documentary Koyaanisqatsi as Background; The title is a Hopi Indian word meaning “life out of balance.” Created between 1975 and 1982, the film is an apocalyptic vision of the collision of two different worlds — urban life and technology versus the environment.

EMRL 011 / ROI

ROI is one of the most awake and creative minds in Spain, but also an insatiable producer. This is testified to by his Fanzine project, which he co-directs with The Panic Room. And, in this electronic principality, where everything is governed by concepts such as purity, elegance and devotion to music, people like ROI are admired, capable of sacrificing their best years to contribute their grain of sand to the cause, training professionals.

As a DJ he manages, without losing sight of his tendency to dance and reflection, to combine, depending on the moment, a multitude of genres with coherence and enjoyment, in equal parts, until weaving together a story with a beginning, middle and end.

He does not lack notable virtues, but those that should be recognized the most are perseverance in his musical project and empathy with the audience on the dance floor. In the same way, as a producer, he manages to give coherence to a wide amalgam of influences from several decades. This unique work is very personal, and like few others, it is capable of triggering a feeling that is sometimes disconcerting, familiar and welcoming at the same time.

ROI could be defined as a cultural agent, which beyond bringing a breath of fresh air to the dance floors, tirelessly seeks to renew the musical language with brilliant ideas that make that experience magical, unique, but above all, so much fun. as accessible and enriching.

Born and raised in Belgrade Serbia, Filip Xavi is recognized as one of the pillars of the local contemporary techno scene, active as a DJ and promoter of techno culture in Serbia over the span of last two decades.

As Drugstore resident, since 2013 he played and curated over 100 events that reshaped Belgrade techno scene landscape.

Since 2011 his music was released on : Dynamic Reflection, Subsist, Sonntag Morgen, Decoder Recordings, Art21, Schimmer, Semantica, MORD, Newrhythmic, and Mindtrip records.

2019 saw his first Boiler Room appearance at Drugstore.
Innately attracted to the hypnotic techno archetype, Filip unfolds his sets in waves of suspense and tension, with each new transition captivating you further into his oneiric sonic universe

In 2024 he completed his first China tour playing at Groundless Factory - Beijing, Aurora-Guangzhou, Oil -Shenzhen, Vervo-Kunming, Pools-Dali...

These sequences of events resonated outside the frames of the Serbian scene and led to the invitations to some of the Europe’s most repsected clubs : Tresor-Berlin, Radion-Amsterdam, Le Sucre - Lyon, Institut Fur Zukunft – Leipzeig, Larm – Budapest , Mutabor.

Driven by a love of the techno scene, but especially after discovering the Fuse, an iconic Belgian club, Carmelo Ponente slowly but surely fell in love with textures, distortions and raw sounds. After a long period of hesitation, he decided to bring his passion to life, creating tracks that are released today on labels such as Newrhythmic Records, Solitär, TMM Recordings, Bahn Records, Subsist Records, Postdynamic Records, and many more,  … And supported by artists such as Tommy Four Seven, Lewis Fautzi, Zadig, Lakej, Casual Treatment, Adriana Lopez, Dave Clarke and many others.
His desire to return to the decks was becoming stronger and stronger. In 2023, it was time for him to return to this passion, which also allows him to express his love of the scene. He produced podcasts for TMM Recordings & Dwarf Planet Series and shared the decks with Linear System, Eric Fetcher & more. 2024 is shaping up to be just as exciting, because after playing in France for the second time, he made his debut at the legendary Fuse club in Brussels in May with The Advent & Stef Mendesidis
