Nathan Haines single ‘Just Holdin’ On’ featurs New Zealand-based vocalist / visual artist Eo (Badcrop / The Grow Room), showcasing the varied moods of the new album 'Notes'.

Nathan Haines & producer Phil Asher would often include mid-tempo “listening” tracks to break up the pace of an album. With its slower tempo and chilled hip-hop beats, ‘Just Holdin’ On’ brings Eo’s laid back, soulful vocal delivery to the front, while Haines’ saxophone & flute melodies are dripping in longing and yearning. 

Built around a beautiful chord progression from Michal Martyniuk on Rhodes, Nathan enlisted Marc Mac (4 Hero) to add some Visioneers-era boom bap beats, which laid the foundation for the spoken word delivery of Eo (Ethan King). The result showcases another side of Haines’ composition & production style on this album. 

Notes is Haines’ 11th studio album set for release August 9.

Just Holdin' On

Just Holdin' On (feat. Eo)

Loop are excited to welcome electronic musician Zuke - aka Ed Zuccollo to the family with the release of his new single ‘Voyager’. The Wellington-based artist has built a cult-following in the underground electronic scene for his dynamic hybrid live/DJ sets and an ability to tell a story through music. The track is the first single taken from his upcoming debut album.

The single ‘Voyager’ is named after the twin NASA space probes launched in 1977 to explore the outer solar system. Onboard those crafts is a “Golden Record”, various greetings and recordings that tell the story of our planet, a message in a bottle tossed into the cosmic ocean. ‘Voyager’ includes the greeting “hello from the children of planet earth” - serving as an intro to the celestial sound that is Zuke.

Densely layered, uplifting and lush with big synth sounds, ‘Voyager’ showcases Zuke’s unique production style, combining vintage synths and analogue equipment. The release includes the Downtempo/Organic House remix by Sanoi & Zuke, which highlights the emotive elements of the original melody.

‘Voyager’ is the first single from Zuke’s his long awaited debut album, set for release late 2024. Elements of jungle, dubstep, downtempo, house, and ambient field recordings fuse together, creating a blend of melodic beauty and deep bass with a human touch. Over the next few months, Loop will release a series of singles, remixes, and alternate versions, showcasing the diversity of this artist.

Voyager

L.A.B drop their latest single, ‘Follow’, which brings the summertime feeling and the trademark L.A.B sound. Co-written and co-produced by the band alongside fellow Kiwi Josh Fountain (Leisure, BENEE), the track combines playful acoustic guitars and bass to create sun-soaked vibes.

PREMIERE: Zuke - How We Met

New Zealand artist @HarryCharles unveils ‘Visions Of Red’, his debut single for Loop Electronic, the newly launched sub-label of Loop Recordings Aot(ear)oa. Taken from his forthcoming sophomore album MOVEMENT, the track is a richly textured blend of downtempo and organic house, showcasing Harry’s continued exploration of emotive, groove-centric beats and his growth as a producer and live performer.

MOVEMENT, set for release in May 2025, marks Harry’s first full-length album since returning to Aotearoa after years of artistic growth in Berlin. Known for his seamless fusion of live guitar, soulful vocals, and electronic production, Harry's work on this album reflects his deep connection to both his roots and the transformative journey he's experienced abroad.

“The more I grow as an artist, the more I want to evolve into something new. There's a lot that's familiar about this song to me, and there's a fresh feel to it as well - a sign of evolution and a deeper dive into the heart and sound of a dance floor groove,” Harry shares.

Sanoi reunites with longtime collaborator @jakerattler for 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang', the second club-focused single from the upcoming Loose Change EP [@loopcrew]

Taken from the forthcoming Loose Change EP, Sanoi begins the year with a collaborative bang, teaming up with fellow DJ/producer @boznich13 for "Chill Bill".

"'Chill Bill' was created over a couple of days with Boznich," says Sanoi. "Our idea was to write something that doesn’t lean into the big dramatic buildups and drops dominating dancefloors today. Instead, we aimed for something that carries a certain ‘cool’ while still driving hard and full of energy."

‘We Belong’ is the brand new waiata created especially for Te Matatini o Te Kāhui Maunga 2025. Commissioned by Te Matatini, the official song has been created by Corrella and L.A.B, a song which emphasises the collective strength and spiritual unity represented by the event and the host iwi. 

The biennial Te Matatini national kapa haka festival is the largest celebration of Māori performing arts excellence in the world. ‘We Belong’ will serve as the soundtrack to this installment of Te Matatini.

The waiata is a collaboration between two of New Zealand’s most popular acts, Corrella and L.A.B. Featuring vocals led by Joel Shadbolt (L.A.B) and Pipiwharauroa & Ngawaiwera Campbell (Corrella), the waiata embraces the feeling of unity and togetherness which Te Matatini brings, with the track being started in Te Whanganui-a-Tara / Wellington, before being completed in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland.

This new imagining of ‘Heart of Glass’ is a fusion of pulsating reggae beats with Blondie’s classic vocals, creating a fresh and vibrant take on a song that defined a generation. The track combines the unmistakable vocals from the iconic Debbie Harry with a group of musicians from the vibrant musical metropolis of Kingston, Jamaica. Captured by a band who have played with the likes of Ziggy Marley, Peter Tosh, Sly & Robbie, Wyclef Jean and many more, this version of ‘Heart Of Glass’ gives the classic a new sunshine-soaked feeling.

Featuring the chopped-up hip-hop vocals from rapper Eo, the remix takes the track down a house route, while keeping the lo-fi hip-hop and jazzy vibes of the original.

Widely known for deep-diving into different genres, Christoph El Truento has gained acclaim locally and abroad for his unique takes on hip-hop, reggae, jazz, eletronica and ambient music. Classic Hits In A Reggae Groove presents the latest release from their upcoming album, a new imagining of Tanita Tikaram’s iconic track ‘Twist In My Sobriety’. Kingston Sound System have taken a re-recorded vocal from Tikaram and created a soulful reggae version of the classic.

A collection of Jamaica’s finest musicians, Kingston Sound System have taken the synth-driven original, and given it a new sun-soaked interpretation. The synths are replaced by horns and keys combining, with Tikaram’s breathy vocals perfectly complimenting the laid-back reggae instrumentation. A modern brooding vocal take from Tikaram lends new life to the recording, working hand in hand with a slower reggae tempo to the original.
