Strewn with echoes of Lionel Richie’s immortal words, the Danish producer’s latest is a beautifully bittersweet house cut assembled from both sampled and recorded bits.
 
The artist notes that the effect of the chorus came to him by way of a good-humoured Italian bartender who regaled his customers by adlibbing the chorus over the instrumental disco and house tracks playing at his bar.
 
The single comes off his forthcoming comeback album, following his critically acclaimed Hey Music Lover from 2003. Specializing in sample-based instrumental loops, Grassskirt shapes his bits and pieces into sophisticated and poignant new material. An architecture of imagined places and forgotten dreams.

The extremely talented French downbeat producer Ektoplast has been with us since his beginnings, or rather since his first releases saw the light of day. Back then at Talpa Rec., he immediately captivated listeners with his deep, room-filling sound. Add to that the velvety soft but emphatic beat. We could therefore easily imagine a special Afterhour Sounds mixtape. It was really easy to get Clément excited about the idea. But contrary to our expectations, he was determined to record a special micro house-style mixtape for us. Reduced to the essentials, but rich in detail and full of hypnotic moments. Hmm, that sounds good, we thought as a team. And now it's seeing the light of day. Thank you, Clément, for daring to try something new. If it's after-hours, then this is definitely the place to be.

✔️ What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?
Growing up with music-loving parents and four older brothers who are musicians, I was exposed to a wide variety of musical styles from an early age. I dreamed of becoming a professional drummer, and I even imagined starting a stoner/jazz band with two drummers, so I spent my entire childhood studying the instrument, along with music theory, analysis, and other musical subjects.
Later, I discovered electronic music on my own, outside of this family environment, and immediately immersed myself in it, captivated by the infinite possibilities of timbres and textures. This passion eventually led me to dedicate myself to it and to study composition at the conservatory for many years, which profoundly shaped my ear.
Now, when it comes to my daily listening, and if I had to choose just two genres, they would be folk and ambient — two very different worlds that both touch me on a deep level.

✔️ What makes a good “afterhour”?

A moment suspended in time, wrapped in a serene atmosphere, also well surrounded, and, of course, carried by music that keeps everything euphoric : a smooth & gentle in-between. Oh, and if possible, a nice sunrise


✔️ Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?

First podcast above 120 bpm I’ve done in years — and I had so many tracks I wanted to play! I would’ve needed at least 3 or 4 hours, maybe soon… but here it is: 60 minutes of deep, dubby, micro-groovy house, or call it whatever you want. Hope you’ll enjoy it! About : river return to Bespoke Musik after a brilliant radio show mix earlier this year with a four-song suite that folds living-room intimacy into widescreen motion. What begins as a whisper opens onto a horizon of warm analog textures and patient, dance-literate grooves. The Estonian father-and-son duo, Oleg and Ervin, trade phrases across a 24-year bridge, letting melody lead and rhythm arrive when the story needs to move. It’s electronic music with a pulse you can feel and a tenderness you don’t often hear—cinematic, human, and quietly hopeful, triumphant.

The new EP reads like a short film in four scenes. Piano sketches become themes, clarinet replies become memories, and the synths color everything with tape-warm glow.
