I'm really excited to bring you this remix album - I was lucky to get many of my favourite producers in the world involved in the project, and they have delivered an amazing range of music, it's a bit silly actually, how good this release is!

I was originally planning to separate it out into several releases, but when I brought all the remixes together I realised it could make an LP of it's own. I tried to order the tracks to provide some flow in this respect, from the beautiful ambience and downtempo sounds of Christian Löffler and Tom Hodge, to Rival Consoles brooding synth epic, into Vessels Aside broken melodic club track, Kimyan Law's beautifully detailed jungle break masterpiece, Patrice Baumel's massive techno remix, Ash Koosha's twisted electronica vision of Kathrin de Boerr, JoeFarr's apocalyptic darkroom disaster, John Tejada's melodic analogue beauties to wind down a little, and Hidden Orchestra's symmetrically structured huge ebb and flow remix of Symmetry to close. So much great work in there, I hope you have time to listen through and enjoy it as much as I do! And massive thanks to Christian, Tom, Ryan, Vessels, Nico, Pat, Ash, Joe, John and Hidden Orchestra for your work on this.

A track I made to make my girlfriend laugh as she's a huge fan of The Office.

My personal favourite thing I've made on the OP-1 even if it is loose, hence the name.

I basically had to layer live takes one by one to make this work.

It's a cute Yoshi's Island kind of lullaby vibe.

The Loosey Goosey

Another sample jam track.

Just trying to get the hang of live mixing tracks and playing samples live.

At some point I will go back and actually produce these as tracks with a structure and some editing.

I would like to be able to do effects, mute groups and live sampling at the same time but I don't know how to perform such wizardry on the OP-Z at this time.

Just Keep Swimming

Fun simple groove. Just a draft until I tidy up the parts and the sounds, write a bridge, fix the melody, etc. etc. 

But the core framework of the thing is there.

[July 2020: Since it's a favourite of my girlfriend I threw some compression and EQ on it and took out the popping noise at the end of the track.

Still needs the parts to be redone as the quantize is off and doesn't account for the higher resolution in later firmware patches.]

OK so it technically never touched a DAW (unless you count Audacity) but like... it's a Son Montuno programmed electronically so my pun is awesome.

First time recording the Deluge straight to its internal storage.

Rough attempt at a live drone-based song. 

I'll definitely have another pass at it when I have a better idea how this thing works. Very much coming to grips with it.

Boots On The Ground - Feet In The Air

First successful attempt at laying something down without any catastrophic fuckups but certainly lots of mistakes were made and I'm hoping by uploading this and then listening back to it I'll be suitably motivated to take more passes at it in the coming days.

OP-1 jam.

Simple stacked loops.
Bass & Drums = 2 Bars
Keys = 4 Bars
Filter Sweep = 6 Bars

Live take of Flute with inordinate amounts of delay over the top.

The Flute Of Repentance

A little tribute to my jazz banjo playing Uncle Norm who was known for being the Smiling Banjo Man.

Whipped up in about 10 minutes so is definitely a speedtune. 
No sequencer used and no edits.

Smilin' Norm

A Bembe (meaning Blade) is an Afro 6/8 rhythm which is good.

This is a little backing track I whipped up and attempted to blow over with OP-1's tiny whackass keyboard.

Bembe Busking Burning Brightly Bringing Beach Babes @ Brighton

Another quick throw together. 

1. Laid down a breakbeat.

2. Main arp track as an improv that lasted 100 bars. 

3. Overdubbed a bass part with some live effects and movement. 

4. Overdubbed the first melodic arp. 

5. Hit record and live improved the secondary melody that comes in after the first bridge.

It has tiny wings, but cannot fly.

All tracks are improvised live takes unless otherwise noted.
