....and as with everything Toi Toi related, we like to expand our horizons and explore deeper all solid musical influences and here is one of mine, the strongest: techno & Detroit. You all know of my dear love and obsession for Techno. A child of Jeff Mills, Rob Hood, Surgeon and later on the minimal techno front with Richie Hawtin, Daniel Bell, the dub side with Maurizio as well as UK influences, and eventually landing on to Perlon via that.

With that said it comes as no surprise that I fell in love with the productions of Luke. Everything this guy made I would love, be it on releases on his own imprint DeepLabs or on Carl Craig's Planet E or say in his collaborations with the likes of Omar S. 

Leading the new generation of Detroit producers and djs, along with artists such as Kyle Hall he has helped shape and maintain the city's status as an epicentre of true, soulful techno. His analog 90’s minimal approach infused with dub Detroit sounds makes him such a gem, the sophisticated side of the golden 90s, classy and elegant -  this adoration for him and his music led us to host him in our series, it is with great honour we do so.

After his impressive debut album on Mosaic DTL (@stephenos1) back in 2020, he now has three releases this year on the legendary dub techno imprint, as well as forthcoming music on @rogergerressen Irenic label. No slouch in the booth either, this mix fuses his minimal, dub techno and house influences, and will satisfy the ear of both connoisseurs and casual listeners alike.

Absolutely buzzing to have Tom Ellis providing the vibes for this month's guest mix. This particular mix is a practice take in preparation for Tom's recent live set in Berlin. Hence to say all the material inside is his own work. I've always had a deep respect for Tom, as a musician, as a producer, as a person, his entire family are also fkn legends. This is an absolute pleasure. Thanks Tom!!
