Depth Perception

Loose Leaf is the solo project of Canadian (now also Australian) singer/songwriter Rory
Switzer. Following the recording of his first E.P in mid-2017 with producer Brad Hosking,
Rory put a band together consisting of local Gold Coast musicians Luke Johnson (Drums),
Will Edgar (Bass) and Ondre Davis (Lead Guitar) to tour the record.
Along with each member of the band, Rory comes from a long list of other musical
endeavours, most notably his role as drummer in psych-rock band ‘Yes Sir Noceur’. The
combined experience has resulted in an incredibly dynamic live show and a sound eerily
familiar, yet difficult to pigeonhole. Distinct elements of pop, alt-indie and dance weave
throughout the tracks; think Bahamas meets Local Natives.
2018 saw the release of two singles from Loose Leaf, followed by his debut E.P ‘Frames’.
“It’s the record I’d been wanting to make for far too long...I’m happy I waited.” says Rory
when asked about his procrastination in bringing the tracks to the studio. “Most of the
song's lines and hooks had been haunting my phone and loop pedal for years; it took some
time for them to find their meaning and place”.
Loose Leaf has since followed up with the single ‘On the low’ in April 21' and will be giving a
glimpse into his sophomore EP with the first single ‘Spiral Staircase’ set for release Thursday, September 15th, 2022.
