LMB began DJing at the age of 15, mainly playing Drum & Bass and Jungle but has now become one of Bristol's finest techno DJs. Originally working for Massave Records in Birmingham, he was drawn to Bristol where he started working for Chemical Records as their techno buyer. Using such knowledge as the basis for forming Triptic, his own club night, he has played alongside the likes of Craig Richards, Howie B, Paul Daley (Leftfield), Mark Broom, Mark Henning and Jackmaster to name only a few. All of this experience, unsurprisingly, results in the finest handpicked sets from a man who has played everywhere from curry houses in Paisley to Fabric! It was a pleasure to have him grace the decks at our second night and we can't wait for you to be blown away by this mix.

Recording of Rommek's set from our second party - a stormer! Since the party, we have announced him as our new resident, alongside Medallion Man, Juggins and Golesworthy.

Note, apologies for any dodgy parts of the recording. Should be mostly fine throughout but there is the odd moment where there is slight distortion.

Despite only being 20 years old, we have been amazed by his productions for almost 5 years now. Especially in the last few years, his sound has matured hugely, making him into one of the most exciting young techno producers in London.

With recent vinyl releases on No Logo & Weekend Circuit and digital releases with Labrynth & Sonntag Morgen, we can safely say that our sentiment is shared by many. Support from Developer, Francois X and Arnaud le Texier to only name a few, is the greatest compliment to the commitment exuded by Rommek over the last few years. Adriana Lopez's remix on his Thought Patterns EP being played twice on DJ Deep's boiler room a few months ago was a strong signal of this backing.

As a DJ, his sets are both unique and engaging. Recent sets at Motion, Corsica and Crucifix Lane wet the appetite for his appearance at Loose lips. To top this off, he has recently secured a residency at Dazed & Confused, one of the most reputable underground techno nights in London.

q) where are you located and which places do you like to go there?
a) I am located in Zurich. Apart from music I am on the lake or visit bars, restaurants & art exhibitions. Zurich has a lot to offer here. Music related I slowed down with clubbing but I would recommend Kauz & Zentralwäscherei for regular clubbing, Umbo to find the unexpected & Studio Zurich & Kasheme for proper music with nice drinks. Apart from that I visit record stores & listen to music at smaller & private events.

q) do you remember what music inspired you when you made the mix?
a) Not really, I played the vinyl I had & what made sense to me. In general I try to pick music which is unpredictable & has some depth. Not sure if I made it this time but that’s at least what I try to do. In my opinion, the beauty of a good set in general is the following contradiction: a good set is subjective but at the same time, if it’s good, most people will just know.

q) which projects are you involved in?
a) Music-wise I run a place with a friend which we call Pajama. We started with having it for ourselves & friends to listen to & play music. Then we started hosting after parties with Format Records Zurich. Now we do what we always wanted, we organize listening sessions to warm up the night. The final dream is to have something as close to a Japanese Listening Bar as possible.

q) what else is important to you in life besides music?
a) Meaning in what I do, love, good relationships, listening to what people are saying, being kind.

q) last question. what do you like to eat or drink?
a) I like Japanese & Italian food the most, but I eat everything & love to explore. With drinking I try to keep things simple, a negroni, a layered white wine or a good beer and I am happy.

To achieve real progression in UK underground music, it takes individuals with the inclination to push sonic boundaries; artists that build on precedents and mutate strands of pre-existing sounds to create something genuinely fresh and exciting. Over the past couple of years, Wen has undoubtedly been one of the producers to move things forward, with his output helping to shape the next chapter of dark, bass-gravitating, broken rhythm beats. Throttling the tempo of grime and dubstep but maintaining their murky aesthetics, Wen amalgamates rhythms from a range of percussive influence and constructs ominous, spacious compositions underpinned by the impact of his taut low-frequency engineering. His considerable promise had been apparent to many from his early productions, but it was his debut 12” ‘Swingin’ on fellow Kent-based label 'Badimup' and his devastating ‘Commotion’ EP that garnered Wen widespread attention, a release that sounded quite unlike anything else out at the time. Tastemakers Dusk & Blackdown, whose seminal Keysound imprint put out ‘Commotion’, worked fast to sign the veritable mountain of deadly Wen dubs they were sitting on, and his debut full length, ‘Signals’, is due for release this year along with his notoriously fierce Dizzee Rascal bootleg, ‘Strings Hoe’ out on white-label.

The unique and ultimately heavy sound Wen has forged has helped him reach landmark personal achievements at a blistering pace, with the Keysound support followed by working his tracks into the record boxes of everyone from Oneman to Benji B on Radio 1, even receiving plays from the usually dubstep-focused Youngsta. Appearances on the legendary Rinse FM airwaves have come thick and fast, as have bookings at revered events such as FWD, Outlook and Reconstrvct, not to mention the constant stream of sets at other nights across the UK and beyond. Wen’s debut LP, ‘Signals’ is set to cement his reputation as one of the country’s most compelling young talents, with him having pushed his production levels through the roof; every beat hits harder, tighter and lower, and it features an early contender for the rowdiest track of 2014, the ridiculous Riko Dan collab, ‘Play Your Corner’, that is already out there damaging soundsystems.
