Mirae Arts is thrilled to announce the release of "The Way I Am and The Way You Yawn," the debut album from Katsunori Sawa under his new KWARP alias. This six-track album marks a significant evolution in Sawa's musical journey, blending his experimental roots with fresh, vibrant textures. 

"The Way I Am and The Way You Yawn" reflects on the fleeting nature of youth and the aspiration to maintain a childlike curiosity, while also acknowledging the fatigue that comes with aging. Mostly produced with modular synthesizers and analog equipment, the album takes listeners on an auditory adventure through a series of imaginative soundscapes. 

The album opens with "Frog FM," a track characterized by forward-driving hi-hats and alien voices echoing and clashing, reminiscent of a scrambled FM frequency or a child playing with an analog radio dial. "Light Dash" follows, placing the listener in the cockpit of an unknown vehicle emitting reverberating artificial sounds. Side A closes with "The Spectator," featuring voices from above and creatures talking with one another. 

Side B begins with "PlayStation," evoking the sounds of a gaming console booting up. "Metal Gear" reflects the inner metallic workings powering our entertainment. The album concludes with "Ultra," a track filled with belching aggression and mechanical expressions, almost as if the music itself is trying to escape the speakers. 

KWARP's "The Way I Am and The Way You Yawn" is a testament to Katsunori Sawa's innovative spirit and his ability to push the boundaries of electronic music. The album's artwork and illustrations are done by the talented Jesse Osborne-Lanthier, adding a visual dimension that complements the auditory experience. The mastering and lacquer have been precisely crafted by Beau Thomas.

Hollywood birders Harry and Tom deliver four DJ unfriendly tracks aimed squarely at the parish hall. Sonic forage-ables and contemporary barndance to storm cruck frames across the Tunbridge Wells - Pontypool connection.

‘Drum, Botany & the Brash’ is the product of six months of outings and studio sessions by Forest Casual, a collaborative project by Harry Murdoch and Thomas Morley. These songs assemble nocturnal field recordings, barely metric rhythms, the May Day dawn chorus, wilted bouzouki and wood-pigeon wub. Two heads colliding to create a third, completely distinct from its makers.The resulting four tracks are dub infused soundsystem folk for the funglist massive, just don’t call it Folktronica. Entrenched in the music are many musical tangents explored in Harry’s basement, anecdotes of work and play on the ropes, and memories of jumping fences and squinting at woodpeckers. 

Harry Murdoch makes music as hmurd and has released with TT Label, Gin & Platonic, All Centre and more. He co-runs the label Cherche Encore and is in the band Hard On Yarn Sourdonk Communion. Harry is chronically ill. He mostly makes music with code.
Thomas Morley is a free improviser currently exploring composition by experience and relationship. He is 1/2 of microband ‘mosspit’ and provides side-person duties for artists in need of pads and foley. Hailing from South Wales, Tom finds catharsis by abseiling on heritage buildings and playing 5-string banjo.

For its first ever release, Polën invites nine producers from the french electronic music scene to share their own take on ambient & downtempo music.

Biotope Season 01 has been entirely recorded and produced during a creative residency in October 2023 in Salles-sous-Bois (France).

The artists spent this precious time together collecting field recordings from the Aleyrac valley, sharing knowledge, playing music and learning about our natural surrounding. As part of the creative process, the artists had to use some pieces of the field recordings in their composition. Polën’s first compilation is the result of this wonderful experience : a crossroad of genres, and a humble experimentation about time, music and life.

Mirae Arts announces the release of The Way I Am and The Way You Yawn, the debut album from Katsunori Sawa under his new KWARP alias. Katsunori Sawa is a distinguished figure in Kyoto's experimental music scene. Sawa first made waves in 2008 on the UK-based Ai Records under his EOC alias. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to the music world by running the now-defunct 10 Label and collaborating with renowned artists like Yuji Kondo (as Steven Porter), Martsman (as Bokeh), and DJ Nobu (Nobusawa). These collaborations have seen releases on prestigious labels such as Kynant Records, SNTS, and Token.

As a solo artist, Sawa's music is crafted in his hidden studio, nestled within the cement walls of a Tadao Ando-designed building. His unique sound, characterized by rhythmic noise and undulating bottom-end rave abstractions, has earned him an album release on Opal Tapes, making him the label's first Japanese artist.
