Our first ever premiere introduces the 129th imprint on Montreal-based label, Archipel. This album from Italian Rico Casazza hosts 8 intriguing tracks, 4 of which are available only for those who invest in the wax!

Our featured track is one of those vinyl bonuses, named as the entire album is...'Yaman'. Its hypnotic and music box styled melody, is the first stand out feature. As the electro-led beat and energetic claps develop, so does its wonderful 303 bassline. The track epitomises Rico's style in its perfect balance between his melancholic songwriting and his desire to make people move.

After ten years of producing electronic music, Rico Casazza has created a successful identity for himself and his moody, yet melancholic style of making music. Casazza has released on labels such as Soma, Archipel, Plastic City and our very own platform Loose Lips, which has helped him establish himself amongst the ranks of diverse producers in London. This is no easy task due to the sheer volume of quality artists hailing from this great city. Whether it is Ambient, House, Electro or IDM that you are looking for, Casazza will have his own tripped-out and crunchy take on it. His highly effective, sample-based way of producing reinforces these stylistic qualities. 

Rico Casazza has had a very successful career so far with over fifteen releases under his belt and even with this impressive figure behind him, he shows no signs of slowing down.  Showing the depths of his musical knowledge, he's turned his hand to teaching others how to use Ableton live and all he knows about the DAW. As well as teaching, he also spends time working on his hybrid live set that gives an insight into his love for analogue synthesisers. Rico’s live performance has taken him around Europe and South America, adding to both the maturity and vast array of influences behind his productions.

Rico Casazza’s latest offering is eight tracks in the form of his second LP. We have the privilege of premiering ‘Yaman’, which demonstrates his no-holds-barred approach to writing. As a teacher, producer, live performer and an incredible selector behind the decks, Casazza has cultivated a varied and detailed range of skills. We here at Loose Lips have followed his musical journey thus far with great curiosity, and can’t wait to see the ways in which he will surprise us in the future.

We're delighted to present you with an exclusive of the opening track from this forthcoming TÉNÈBRE EP, released on his very own label, as TENEBRE006. This EP, signalling the start of his 'Territory series', is epic and industrial!

"The endless ramifications led to the outer edges...we could finally see where the grid ends and how it stretches on earth across the sea and the mountains. Here is a territory of the void, made of glass and built on the heaths of a coast which no longer exists."

Ténèbre is a French Techno producer that currently resides in Seoul, Korea. Assuch, his music paints a powerful image of the sprawling urban environment of the Korean megalopolis, with relentlessly rolling kick drums, claustrophobic percussive lines, and soul-penetrating synthesisers. The man behind the brooding techno alias is Paul Ténèbre, who has released each of his first five EPs through his own imprint ‘Ténèbre Audio’. His focus is on creating a thought-provoking atmosphere, whilst retaining an internal energy to each track.

Ténèbre has developed somewhat of a cult following throughout the UK and Europe, with each of his releases being received with critical acclaim by DJs, producers, and critics alike. Alongside his immaculate productions, Paul is an incredible selector. Having contributed to The Ransom Note, Selftitledmag and his own mix series, he has created some amazing mixes that delve into the deeper side of the genre, and bring focus to the power of intricate percussion.

Over the next year, Paul has some exciting projects in the pipeline. The first of these is this sixth Ténèbre EP, which is coming out via his own label. Here, we have chosen to feature the track ‘Khanate’ from the Territory 1 EP! Over the course of this series, Ténèbre will continue to contemplate his surroundings, providing an in-depth look at how a sonic landscape can be sculpted into a simulacrum of the often unseen human dimension in our cities.

Progressive and vehement, Hang Syem is one of the producers to watch in 2017, whose kicking off with a release on Black Beacon Sound in the not too distant future. Back in the day, he was living in Sheffield and putting on some highly renowned house parties with a collective of like-minded individuals who dubbed themselves Thirty Three. They have since all become respected and accomplished members of the music industry, whether as DJs, promoters or venue managers.

Taking influence from across the UK's dance music spectrum, be it bass, d&b, techno or minimal house, Hang Syem has since gone on and developed a true sound of his own. As evidenced in the tracks on the forthcoming EP, his highly intricate and polished take on the complexities of modern dance music is just the breath of fresh air this scene needs! That's not to say the music on display is a compromise on the well-loved grooves that shake up dancefloors nationwide; a beautiful harmony of bass and percussion is just one of the standard ingredients in his tracks.

Our Boxing Day premiere combines industrial and distorted reverberations with a mystical atmosphere, that might peculiarly nourish your festive spirit. Slyr's track is part of Messe Noire's first ever V/A, which will be available for free download.

SLYRS is a French producer currently residing in Lille, whose music is fuelled by distortion, dark atmospheres and intensely ruthless drum patterns. 

Slyrs started creating music at the age of 16, taking influence from his love of the ambient & experimental genres, and from discovering his first underground raves. He then jointly formed the ‘Instinkt’ crew, which has since released most of his music and has helped him to find the network of producers that share his dark, industrial tendencies.

Slyrs' industrial style is beginning to spread, with fantastic contributions to the Raven Sigh and Level 32 mix series. They typically take the listener on a winding journey of impressive industrial soundscapes and noisy screams, closely resembling those of heavy metal.

Make sure to keep your eye on Slyrs' no-holds-barred output!

This new premiere introduces the playful and astute Hip-Hop of a hugely talented trio. SNES-CD is the 3rd track from Constructions, a new tape released via our very own resident MC's platform, SWMS. If you've ever been into gaming and vintage consoles, then this is the track for you! Constructions tape showcases the work of rappers Treece & We'll See, on top of Hyro's lo-fi productions. The release will also be presented in a unique one-video format - check out our artist profile below for a little bit more information on this...

Devonian Treece & Chesire-born We'll See first met in a pub when they both moved to Manchester. They immediately started spitting together, forming a devious duo whose music reflects on the gritty and addictive city that they both now live in. Whether its driving through M14 or slouching into the sofa, they're sure to have an idiosyncratic way of telling their stories.

Our man Treece, as well as being our very favourite rapper and a Loose Lips resident MC, is an indispensable part of our entire project. Holding down the fort in Manchester, he has been an integral force in all of our outputs over the last 2 years. He's also the joint-founder of SWMS (south-west-mind-state), a Hip Hop collective formed back when he lived in the shire!

Will, aka We'll See, is a talented vocalist, often focused on dark subject matter and intricate wordplay. He's been rapping since 2010 and previously played guitar in a number of metal bands, before turning to his now beloved MPC. He recently released his own 'Shadow Less EP' and has plenty more projects on the horizon in 2017. Crucially as well, his expression on this album goes further than his lyrics. He's the man behind the one-video footage of the entire album. As opposed to individual track music videos, the tape is presented via a short film, encompassing all of the pieces. It was shot on a VHS, experimenting with processes such as microwaving VHS tapes!

Finally, shouts go to Hyro, the 22 year old hip hop producer from Manchester who laid the foundations for the Constructions tape. He's a member of the SWMS collective and has a focus on lo-fi sound, influenced by 90’s boom bap and Memphis rap. We've been lucky enough to listen through a large portion of his unreleased back catalogue, seriously whetting the appetite for 2017! As we speak, he has today released his como.dreams beat-tape, available to cop on his Bandcamp here - https://hyro.bandcamp.com/.
