The Lithuanian DJ Loranas Vaitkus, or Laurent in the international language, shares his first name with one of the most important Frenchmen in the history of electronic music... And, just like monsieur Laurent Garnier, he has devoted a very important part of his musical career to the art of radio.

Back in 1999 Loranas started a pirate radio in his parents cellar, and it was around that same time when he began saving money on turntables and vinyl records. A local radio station focused on jazz soon offered him a slot and that’s how a more serious radio DJ career began. It was followed by playing jazz-influence house and downtempo at parties of various dimensions, which helped Loranas to refine his technique.

After a few busy years in his hometown Kaunas, both radio waves and long hours of partying, Loranas relocated to Vilnius, the Lithuanian capital, and once again made a bold move in his life. His show was allocated a slot in the youth programme of National Radio, LRT Opus, and served almost five years of Fridays (sometimes Saturdays) full of best electronic dance music and the most interesting guests from all over the world frequenting the studio. The show, Mix Subas, won an award of the best radio show on National Radio in 2011. By that time Loranas Vaitkus had already played in most venues in Lithuania.

Starting 2012, the club DJ career took over Loranas Vaitkus’s life and his musical path focused on the techno trench. Carefully selecting his records and trusting the good old snail mail to deliver them almost every week, he has built himself a reputation of a trustworthy yet astounding craftsman that knows well how to warm up, how to play with emotions in peak time and how to cool the party off. Not dependent on trends or seasons, Loranas is a true representative of DJ culture in its purest form. Some of the most outstanding colleagues he has had the privilege to play together are Blawan, Gary Beck, Cosmin TRG, Ø [Phase] and Dixon, to name a few.
