Dilated Peoples - Third Degree feat. Defari

I’ve decided to remaster some albums and tracks that have already been released.  Just felt I could give them a different kinda sound...

I import the audio files into the daw and then usually load one or more processors of some kind (vinyl, compressor, desk emulations etc) on the stereo master buss. This is configured to colour, shape the sound. My versions are sometimes lower in vol level than the originals. Some releases are hot to signal, but I'm looking for an inherent sound.

Sometimes I apply some chamber and or hall reverb.

With Love’s In Need Of Love Today, I took out the lyrics,

The force of evil plans
To make you its possession
And it will if we let it
Destroy everybody
We all must take
Precautionary measures
If love and peace you treasure
Then you'll hear me when I say

I did this because it’s not up to us to make any given situation in life right (even though of course we may be involved), there is only one who can make it all right; Yihweh.

I applied a phaser to the outro of this track, and again re what’s mentioned above, taking out the line, 

It’s up to you

On the track Have A Talk With God, I edited out the lyrics,

Well he’s the only free psychiatrist that’s known throughout the world
For solving the problems of all men and women, little boys and girls

The reason I did this is because Elohim has no part in psychiatry.

With Village Ghetto Land, I also edited out the lyrics (save the last line) to create an instrumental version of the track, I added some variating delay to its latter half.

On Ordinary Pain, I edited out the second half of the track, and added a little reverb on the end cymbal hit (edit point).

On Joy Inside My Tears I did the same.

For the remist I retitled Black Man to This World Was Made For All Men. 
Like this title change I felt that the track claimed to be about the equality of all races yet was weighted in the (number of) lyrics first to the black man and last to the white man, thus nullifying the point of the song. So I took and rearranged some of the lyrics, losing a verse and chorus. One of the replaced lyrics (from another part of the song) was,

Use of martial arts
In our country got its start
By a yellow man

which I replaced with,

The ground were we stand
With the flag held in our hand
Was first the red man's

The track was also duplicated, the second track being put through a phaser then mixed back in. 
The song also ends earlier than the original (without the outro), due to its sudden ending I added in a cymbal hit.

This was the original version of " Behind bars " I recorded for Slick Rick during his incarceration in the early 90's . The song didn't come out until 94 but to my surprise was remixed by Warren G and Def Jam scrapped my mix . Though Im still considered a writer of the song I was really hoping to have this heard ( well in 92 when we recorded it that is ) . Though it sounds pretty dated its still one of my favorites and I had the pleasure of working with a Genius Slick Rick . Enjoy the Prince Paul unreleased series .. share music !
