Filippo Neviani known by his stage name Nek, is an Italian musician and singer-songwriter. He began playing drums and guitar at the age of nine. In the late 80s he began searching for a well-defined expressive identity and started playing in small clubs with his country music-oriented band "Winchester", and subsequently enjoyed budding notoriety in the Bologna province with soft-rock band "White Lady". In 1991 he began his solo career when he won the second prize at the Castrocaro Music Festival.
Nek first gained international success in 1997, when he took part in the Sanremo Music Festival , and although he didn't win, the song "Laura non c'è" (in Spanish: "Laura no está") went on to become his international breakthrough as it became a major hit in Europe and Latin America that year. The song was the second single of his fourth album “Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto” which sold millions of copies and was also recorded in Spanish. Nek has performed three times at Sanremo, the renowned Italian song contest. In 1993 in the Newcomers section with the song "In te" which reached third place, again in 1997 with "Laura non c'è" which reached seventh place, and recently, after eighteen years, he presented two songs “Fatti Avanti Amore” and the cover of the late 60s Italian hit “Se Telefonando”. “Fatti Avanti Amore”, the new single won second place and immediately became a hit both on the radio charts and sales charts. It anticipated the release of Nek’s latest album “Prima di Parlare” that was released on March 2nd 2015 which was awarded together with the single "Fatti avanti Amore" with a Gold Album prize
