Chris Johnson's Locomotion (LOST171) was originally released back in 2020, with a widescreen prog trance remix from EL EL stalwart Relaunch racking up several plays on Paul Van Dyk's VONYC Sessions. Top marks. There was clearly more mileage in the original's driving-stabby-vandit esque riff, though - so we were truly made up when Speedmaster Records head honcho / trance pioneer Paul Copping heard it, liked it, and agreed to rework it.

Berlin based Speedmaster Records has been (and continues to be) a driving force within the fast, melodic, new school trance scene, releasing high nrg music from Part Time Killer, Funk Tribu, Technokool, and SIOC. With this in mind, Paul's remix of Locomotion finds another ratio gear, pitching things up, and adding a techy Marco V style drive over a tough and chunky groove. Choo-Choo!

On the B-Side, Borderline Records boss Activa - who has since signed some of Chris's music (and shared our musings re the untapped old-school-love-parade-energy of Locomotion) has given us the rework he's been playing out in his sets. A faithful re-spray that tightens, tunes, and touches things up in all the right places.

Trance Wax presents the latest single from his self-titled debut: ‘Rivers’ featuring Moya Brennan, the iconic voice of Chicane’s timeless anthem, ‘Saltwater’.

Celebrating the music Garry McCartney fell in love with as a Belfast teenager, his Trance Wax project began as an anonymous series of vinyl-only bootlegs back in 2015. In 2020, the debut Trance Wax album was released on Anjunabeats; with DJ support from Above & Beyond, Romy, Bicep, Dave Pearce, Solarstone and more.

Moya Brennan made an appearance on the album, providing vocals for ‘Rivers’. She rose to international success with the Celtic group Clannad in the 1970s. They were widely credited with bringing Celtic music to a wider audience and collaborated with U2’s Bono. Trance aficionados will remember Moya for her striking vocal on Chicane’s 2000 hit, ‘Saltwater’.

The extended mix of ‘Rivers’ (feat. Moya Brennan) is out now on Anjunabeats. Trance Wax’s self-titled debut album is available now as a limited edition vinyl via the Anjuna Music Store.
