Patrick Topping’s productions have an effortless swagger when it comes to working the dancefloor and still only on his second EP, the North-East’s star in the making is showing plenty of nous with his massive debut for Hot Trax and now the intoxicating ‘Any Amounts EP’ on Hot creations. A-side ‘Any Amounts’ is getting hammered by Jamie Jones and crew, packed with stomping bass and ridiculously infectious top-lines, it’s a simple and dangerously effective weapon to destroy all dancefloors. ‘The Point’ moves into glitchier territory with another tough and raw bassline and old-school synths. On the flip, ‘Look Around’ weaves provocative vocal clips with heavy bass, a disembodied chorus and syncopated beats. Last but not least Patrick pairs another breathless vocal sample for ‘In My’ with a stripped back bumpin’ house groove, arpeggiated synths and subaqueous growl.

Patrick Topping delivered his first EP ‘Walk On’ on off-shoot Hot Trax earlier this year, which reached no.5 in the Beatport Deep House charts and was championed by Pete Tong on his legendary BBC radio 1 show.

With his tracks gaining support from heavyweights Franck Roger, Richy Ahmed and Darius Syrossian and Jamie Jones even before they were signed, it was only a matter of time before the budding artist broke into the limelight.

Now 24 years old Patrick, first built a DJ career around playing at his own popular club night in Newcastle, Motion while at Uni but started concentrating on production in 2011. Through the old-fashioned demos route, Patrick caught the attention of the Hot Creations camp as they recognised the talent and Patrick’s innate ability to craft a banging record.

Lost Records have called upon newcomer PAWSA to showcase his talents on the label’s third release.

The title track “Pilot” delivers a dose of straight up jacking grooves with infectious old school drums, precise hi-hats and growling basslines. “Pilot” introduces PAWSA’s slick productions setting the stage perfectly for the second track on the EP “The Narcissist”.

Built on similar foundations to “Pilot”, “The Narcissist” kicks off with a more stripped back soundscape, playing, sinister vocals against a low slung bass line. 
The final track of the EP “Pretty Good Debbie” is a more laid back affair the swinging hi-hats pushing the track through to a mean build up and drop.

To round off the EP the icing on the cake is a remix of “Pretty Good Debbie” from Italian legends Supernova. After a blistering 2013, Supernova bring their dark & dubby twist to the table, with key features of the original in tact cementing them into a heavier groove whilst playing off atmospheric build ups and break downs.

Eli Brown - Keep On

As second installment of this month of August, elrow Music has prepared a very special release for all the eager ears that want to hear what's going on in the island, but couldn't come to see us yet! ERM137 goes by the name of 'Ibiza Off 2018' and has been compiled with all of the love and know-how our master and commander, De La Swing, could put in a release.

Opening the VA we have the two men behind elrow Music's latest success: De La Swing & Baum, who deliver 'Eina (Original Mix)', a track that encompasses elrow Music's philosophy in just a few minutes. With its tight percussion, carnivalesque vibe, and amazing vocals, this track is straight-out business, a song for any moment on the floor.

Another highlight is MircoCarauso's 'Makele (Original Mix), that starts with a nice and exotic vocal background, a looser percussion and a tribal-ish vibe to it, that develops as the vocals come to the forefront of the song, a perfect track for mixing in peak times.

We can neither oversee 'F__k Down (Oiriginal Mix)', by Roberto Surace, in which the Italian musician manages to create a funkier track, with hip-hop infused vocals and a lot of groove, perfect to create those magic breaking moments.

Finally, closing the compilation, we have Mescal Kids' 'Mind Set (Original Mix)', a track in which we find some truly soulful vocals, a steady percussion and an amazing key treatment: the vibe of a true banger, especially when all elements come together at the middle of the track.

All in all, another solid take by elrow Music, translating Ibiza's vibe into a wonderful eight-track collection. Don't miss it!
