Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2010, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, six years in to the game, Skankandbass decides to take on the role of a record label to put together a series of free download singles which aims to further help spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition. 

SNB007 comes from newcomers Motional, a Sheffield based production duo. They have had successful releases on various labels, including C-Recordings and Diskool Records.  The duo consists of John Waldron and Freddie Greatrex, both of whom have diverse musical backgrounds, having played instruments from an early age. After meeting at university, Freddie introduced John to the sound of Drum & Bass, which quickly led to the formation of Motional. Freddie has been an established DJ since 2013, regularly playing popular dance events across Sheffield. More recently, this has allowed the duo to demo their latest music at some of the city’s biggest electronic music events and venues, including Hospitality, Valve Sound System, and The Tuesday Club. Initially focused on the lighter side of Drum & Bass, the duo are determined to develop a more experimental, bass oriented sound, whilst maintaining the rich, melodic content that lies at the heart of their productions. As we finish off an incredible year for Addictive Behaviour our last release of 2018 salutes 5 years since the label’s formation. Celebrating this proud milestone, we have curated a various artists LP featuring a host of our favourite producers from past and present.

To mark this occasion twenty-three fresh cuts have been laid down from a select roster of talented artists, some of which have played a pivotal role in sculpting the label’s foundations and some which will be play a huge part in the evolution of Addictive’s future soundscape.

You’ll find fresh remixes and VIP’s from the likes of Scar, Fre4knc & Kyrist. There’s debut appearances from Wreckless, Narrate & Sam Harris, Objectiv and D’TCH. And of course there are a number of tracks from regulars of the Addictive camp including Data 3, Invadhertz, Philth, Handra and many more. You’ll also find fourteen choice tracks selected from Addictive’s back catalogue, which showcase the label’s output over the past 5 years from producers that were a crucial part in the label’s development.

We’d like to thank all of you that have helped support our growing label in our first few years of inception. To acknowledge this achievement this momentous album will also be supported with an extra special event. Head down to Bristol’s Lakota club on the 21st December to join us and numerous artists from the album for a party to remember.
