The Charlotte music scene lost a real one.  Alan Ospina was a vibe.  We shared the stage a few times, but not nearly as often as we shared the dance floor.  Anytime I showed up to an event, I'd always run into him groovin' in the middle of the crowd.  As soon as he sees you, Alan would make it a point to smile, come over, show love and share his gratitude to see you... then promptly let the rhythm take back over and dance his way back into the sea of people.   He had a love and passion not just for the music, but for the Charlotte scene as a whole.  I was not as close to him as others were, but you didn't need to be very close to him to feel and be aware of the positive energy that he radiated.  

Keep on groovin', Alan!  You will be truly missed.

I recently uncovered some of my old Minidisk recordings, and within them, this eccentric mix was discovered. It's from 2009. I think I intended to make this a proper mix, but didn't ever get around to perfecting it. Regardless, it's a fun listen. Choons were structured so differently back then. 

It's a mix of Glitch Breaks, Dubstep, Tech-Breaks, and Drumcore DnB. I intended to make it like chapters of a book, lol. Like, I said, eccentric, haha. It's definitely an interesting mix. It might not be super tight (haha), but it's an experiment that I think turned out pretty solid, regardless. Glad I found it. Enjoy it for it's nostalgic sense...I know I did. In hindsight, I wish I had perfected it. The potential was definitely there.

For the first Rave Your Soul output in 2024. we are back with another track in our RYS Free series - this time with a free download contribution from our co-founder DJGK (@goran-kolak).

His track Sunrise comes as a rolling baseline stomper with a classic tribal drums section, driving loops, and heavy percussions in contrast with highly euphoric synth melodies and nostalgic vocals for that summer-y sunrise (or maybe sunset) warm groove feel.

For many cycles around the sun I played under the moniker, Risqué. I started out w' Jungle/DnB in 1996, added UKGarage/2Step in '98, NuSchool Breaks in 2000, and Deep Dubstep/Future Garage in 2007. So, for over 10 years I was exclusively into broken beats. In 2008, I began dabbling with Chicago Jackin', Deep & Tech House, and Hardgroove Techno. As time went on I found myself gravitating more and more toward the House & Techno. Given that, I figured it was time for a change. I have since taken on a new moniker....... Lost in Pace. The moniker is a play on the title for a show my father and I watched all throughout my childhood, while at the same time symbolizing my journey through multiple tempos/genres. I think it fits me perfectly. I still absolutely LOVE all the various genres and will NEVER stop playing them, however, I mostly focus on Hardgroove/Hypnotic Techno and Electro-Breaks these days.

Again, I still LOVE Deep Dubstep, Jungle/DnB, Breaks, Juke, etc., so that part of me will never totally die. 

In the past I have played some big parties, and opened for some larger acts, but in recent years this has become more or less a passion project. I will never give up my LOVE for the music, nor the JOY for playing it......Dance Music All Life Long!!!!
