One day, I suddenly start to think that this wonderful song is blues.  I checked the chord progression on the guitar.  I started to be confident that the blues three chords would be a perfect fit for this song.  After finding the three chords that fit this song, I checked the melody line.  I thought it would be good to grasp the vocal melody line in order to confirm the scale that fits this work.  I decided to record the process.  I want you to forgive me for this recording being pretty rough.  Because this recording is just a quick note for confirmation. 
I'm sure it will help you practice your guitar.  Those practicing guitar need to know that blue note chord progressions and scales are quite different from Western music.
Please take this opportunity to check the relationship between the blues chord progression and the blue note scale.

Lost Chimes are Gemma and Nicky Kirk.

Renowned for Gemma’s “sublime, outstanding voice” and spine-tingling live sound, the band produce music and site-specific perfromances that provoke, soothe and crystallise life.

2020 saw the release of their debut single, a pared-back, atmospheric cover of Joy Division’s, “Love will tear us apart”.

Their self-titled album was released in May 2021 - an alluring soundscape, filled with the ebb and flow of friends, family, life and loss.

2025 sees their eagerly awaited second record spring into life with visionary producer and multi-instrumentalist, Gerry Diver. (Graham Coxon, Lisa Knapp, Spiritualised, Tom Robinson, Shane MacGowan, Mundy, Van Morrison, Christy Moore).

Filled with compelling stories, intricate guitar work and stunning vocals, “Now I Swim” draws on the band’s family history and the collective memory of others.

Through interviews and reminiscence, they focus on healing intergenerational trauma as well as on ancestral strength, weaving tales of resilience and hope that transcend time and place.

Their first single "Something Different" was released on 28 February 2025 - an evocative anthem about how relationships evolve, adapt, and endure over time.

"Pick up the Pieces" (released 11 April) is a toe-tapping anthem explores the complexities of dysfunctional relationships, lives not fully lived and secrets shed on the way to the grave. 

Title track and album “Now I Swim” will be released on 6 June, accompanied by several high profile radio appearances including BBC Radio Four “Loose Ends” on 5 July 2025.
