C. M. Jones is a singer, songwriter, and composer based in Atlanta, Ga. He writes intimate indie folk, Americana, and alt-country songs with uncompromising sincerity and an obsessive focus on reaching listeners unironically and on a deeper level. Jones’ singing is deliberate and sparse—a fitting vehicle for his decidedly bittersweet lyricism. His fingerpicked nylon guitar work is minimalist, and his orchestration is harmonically complex and, at times, hauntingly dissonant.

Hurry Up and Lose is C. M. Jones' debut EP. The five-song album is a meditation on loss and magnanimity, written over a period of several months, scored by hand, and recorded with string, woodwind, and brass accompaniments. It was recorded and mixed by Damon Moon at Standard Electric Recorders Co. in Atlanta, Ga., and mastered by Joe Lambert in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. Cover art by Melvin Toledo.
