Chilean artist Magda Rot makes a head-turning debut here with some ice-cold electro rhythms on the Return To Disorder label which is now fast approaching a quarter century of releases. There is no messing with these sounds - they're built on tight, kinetic rhythms with fierce sound designs and stark futurism. 'Triads' is a mix of crisp hits and gurgling synths with dramatic background chords. 'Black Sense' is a slamming cut with a twisted bassline and hammering drum funk and 'Coincidences' brings the chilliness with its frosted lines and cold waves of synth. 'Unusual Theory' shuts down with a far sighted sense of electro-techno doom.

Magda Rot - Soft Metallics - RTTD024

First up in Nicolas Bougaïeff’s ‘EP1’ is 'Primal Express', in which he returns to NovaMute for their next wave of releases with layers of elastic synth lines and rolling drum funk. It’s the first instalment in a three-part series on the Mute offshoot and is a dark but enticing work of heady minimalism featuring enchanting synths darting like cosmic rays into otherworldly dimensions. The psychedelic 'Obviate Thought' then boasts tight and punchy drums overlaid with haunting sounds that pan throughout the mix in tripped-out fashion. Last of all is 'Concrete Love,' a gritty and glitchy techno pumper with mind-melting loops and scratchy synth textures peeling off its percussion as the whole track powers on unrelentingly.
 
Berlin Academy of Electronic Music founder Nicolas Bougaïeff is not only a DJ who has played institutions such as fabric and Berghain, and a producer who has regularly released on Mute and NovaMute, but also someone involved in music technology. He designed the controllers for Richie Hawtin’s Plastikman Live tour, and in 2010 with Hawtin, he co-founded Liine, the company behind the landmark music app Lemur. Now, the Berlin-based Canadian Bougaïeff drops another artfully crafted and hugely potent techno EP with ‘EP1’, setting the tone for the stellar releases that will follow.

Cybernet kicks off the release with Resonant Shifter. Pumping kicks lay the foundation for captivating synth arpeggios and warped call and response basses in this ‘90s-inspired cut of contemporary progressive trance. The perfect soundtrack for any location from sunset on the Ibiza seafront to sunrise as the shutters open at a warehouse rave.

Goa elements are out in full force on Hoe Down, courtesy of Glen S. Squelchy 303s, low textures, and metallic arpeggios resonate above a pulsating bassline and weighty kicks, relentlessly pushing forward and ascending to a new sonic dimension - taking you along for the ride.

Body Clinic substitutes the progressive trance for progressive house on Love X, bringing down the tempo but keeping intensity intact. An infectious, syncopated plucked bassline dances around groove-rich drums, psychedelic effects and leads indebted to early ‘90s releases. A masterful blend of the past, present, and future together on one track. 

Closing the EP with Empty Clip, Tom Jarmey disrupts the 4x4 rhythms of the preceding tracks with a genre-bending cut of electro-infused breaks. Two-step drums are matched with clinical sound design, deep basses, and mystical arpeggios. Sure to add depth to any set and turn heads in the process.

Eight years deep into their voyage through the outer margins of sound, Cosmic Wave Records reemerge from the ether with ‘In Echoes Of Fractured Light’, a brooding and luminescent EP from Paris-based sound-sculptor Anechoic...For the premiere, we dive into Marco Shuttle’s reimagining of ‘Offcuts’ - a vertiginous trance-techno elevation that stretches time into liquid. Shuttle peels back the skin of the original and reveals a stroboscopic skeleton: submerged bass pulses, neon-lit pads evaporating into the void and machine rhythms spun tight like quantum clockwork. It’s trance not as genre, but as state. Bells echo in distant gravity wells, flickering like lighthouses of a civilisation long submerged. Somewhere between a lost orbital rave and a ritual in the ruins of deep space, where collective euphoria and solitary drift are two sides of the same cosmic coin.

Since its creation in 2018, Art Bei Ton has been holding space for many emerging talents to express their vision of trippy and hypnotic sounds.

Curating diverse international artists through our events, podcast series, and label releases, we always aim to discover new DJs and producers from around the globe.

Coming from a niche subgenre, the strength of our scene is its dedicated and supportive community. It is therefore important for us to open a listening channel to artists who share our passion and vision.

𝙼𝚘𝚛𝚎 𝚒𝚗𝚏𝚘 𝚊𝚋𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚒𝚜𝚝𝚜:

~ Echonull emerged from the signal haze of Chengdu, cut through Beijing’s noise, and now pulses in Berlin’s shadows. With roots in audio engineering and a mind steeped in sci-fi and Buddhist thought, she sculpts surreal sonic worlds, building emotional futures in broken timelines.

~ Fahmi Mursyid is a contemporary musician, composer, sound designer and producer based in Bandung, Indonesia.

~ E2NMN is a Belrin-based DJ and producer. She crafts immersive experiences through the deeper spectrum of techno, where atmospheric textures meet intricate rhythms and powerful synth work. 

~ nharo is the pseudonym and music project of Francesco, Italian synth devotee based in Lisbon for almost a decade. 

~ Originally from Portugal and now based in Lausanne, Prismal draws upon a long-standing connection to underground dancefloors, deep rhythmic exploration and mental introspection.

~ Forward Vectors is the collaboration of Nolan Byrd and Perrin Grace, two longtime forces in New York.

~ AJ_XO is a Brooklyn-based artist whose work explores emotional intensity, sonic texture, and the space between chaos and clarity.

~ K49 continually refines his sound, merging both old and new influences, between deep and groovy techno with polyrhythms vibes.

~ Goldmund.99 a playful artist that combines trippy and nostalgic sound into trancy techno and tribe.

~ Makhi is a Paris-based producer and DJ, finding balance and inspiration in nature—especially during long treks through the mountains.

~ Shaakra is a lifelong instrumentist and emerging french artist that makes music from the heart as a way to craft rituals drenched in mystic soundscapes and driving tribal drums.

~ KOSAA is a DJ, producer, live performer, and designer. Former resident of the Poznań-based Tresor and Automatik series.

~ mateo is a french DJ and producer, originally from Bastia and now based in Marseille. His musical journey began with the psychedelic sounds of free parties in Nantes region, where he co-founded the collective A’Sonor

~ Likeis is a project based in London, UK focused on exploring the nuances of innate rhythms, universal patterns, and sonic textures both organic and interdimensional

~TURISM, Naarm/Melbourne based emerging electronic music producer, has spent the last several years exploring the push-and-pull feel of halftime grooves, atypical drum programming, and brain-tingling sound design.

Sure Thing welcomes the Warsaw-based, Ukrainian artist Space Biology to the label, who delivers an elegant and enigmatic two-tracker that blurs the boundaries between the organic and the incorporeal, rendering phantoms into illusive sonic ephemera. Our next premiere is from Georgian based artist @rtnh_live from his live recorded album soon to be released on Lett records. 'Final Session' its a stripped back minimal techno track filled with shifty textures and spacious mood. 

"Sessions" is a collection of live recordings by RTNH, captured in real time during the creation of his performance sound designs. Each track preserves the raw, unedited flow of a live session, where decisions happen in the moment.  Each piece is built on the foundation of looping — not as static repetition, but as a living, evolving form. Through continuous and nuanced manipulation of sound parameters, these loops expand beyond linear time, unfolding with a sense of progression that defies a clear beginning or end.

On Biotope, @valentinomora ventures even further from the dancefloor, delving into a rich, psychoacoustic realm shaped by modular and spectral synthesis. Built primarily around the Rossum Panharmonium, a module that analyzes and re-synthesizes audio into evolving harmonic clusters in real time, the album conjures an imagined ecosystem, where sound behaves with the logic and fluidity of organic life. Eschewing traditional field recordings, Mora instead sculpts textures and gestures that feel deeply natural yet are entirely synthetic. Inspired by elements such as soil composition, air, humidity, light, temperature, and the chemical properties of both land and aquatic environments and the living creatures that inhabit them, the soundscapes emerge as a kind of sonic biology. The result is a collection of slow-moving, tension-laden compositions that blur the boundaries between physical sensation and abstract design. Biotope unfolds like a closed ecosystem: modular synthesis treated as a breathing entity, shaped by resonance, friction, and organic motion. It embodies a kind of mystical biology, where textures mimic living forms, and frequencies pulse with intent.

This is music to be felt as much as heard, Biotope invites you to listen with your skin, not just your ears.

Before that, it was the material that suffused the realm of the Gods. So, to say that something is in the ether means that it is something being communicated from place to place; it has no precise location, just as a radio broadcast can be heard from many different places.
