In Greek mythology, Deimos is the personification of fear and panic in battles, and twin brother of Phobos who represented fear. Together, they accompanied the god of war in every fight.

It’s taken 6 years for ‘Phobos’ to meet ‘Deimos’ musically. The label believes that it couldn’t have been a more representative moment of what they needed to express, due to the uncertainty and confusion we are living. With this work, they explore the somber feelings and existential conflicts that take hold of us in these difficult times, sometimes in contrast with the need for struggle and survival.

This magnificent EP, under the stamp of the Barcelona label Urban Legend records, includes four enfolding tracks by Lair and Wará, full of shadows and dark voices, that will take you on an inner journey to the deepest within you. The EP is enriched by two extremely powerful remixes, full of demonic rhythms and underworld atmospheres, created by Sam KDC and NX1.


Today, we present the excellent remix of 'Badb', by the Barcelona-based duo NX1. The remix is a slow, dark techno track, with its eerie synth and vocals filled with agony, accompanying  the heavily distorted drums that gradually lure the listener into a state of mental anaesthesia.

Greek electronic music platform, ‘π‘ turns seven this year and brings new features on its label catalogue. ‘Variable Remixes’ is the first remixes EP of the Pi Electronics Various Artists series ‘PEVA’. Five tracks from the debut compilation ‘Variable’ –released in 2018- are getting remixed by some of the label’s favorite acts.

Unhuman’s “imminent Fear” gets an alternative Version by the legendary, Spanish band of Esplendor Geometrico.
Damcase’s “INKL Rules” is remixed by American producer Container.
The untitled track of the Variable compilation, by the artist project “I am Legion, for We are many”, gets reinterpreted by the Canadia duo of Rich Oddie (Orphx) and Huren as ‘O/H’.
On the flip side, the track ‘GBNR17’ of the label’s ‘3.14’ gets its fix by Spanish, industrial techno maestro, Geistform and DΛS’ “Spinner” receives a special remix treatment by Athens’ infamous ANFS.

Noise break-beats of different tastes on the A side, with stomping industrial beats for the club and sub-club environment on the B side.

Press Release:
Midnight Traffic returns to the fort to add another string to his bow with ‘Unseen Locations’. This 5-track excursion into the realms of deep & hypnotic techno was created during the lockdown with a focal point on open-air settings. The release consists of 3 originals with his signature sound and 2 interpretations by the eminent Italian producer, Biocym. 

The title track, ‘Unseen Locations, gets the EP going with smooth, continuously undulating grooves, psychedelic themes, and haunting vocal samples that invoke a feeling of remembrance of outdoor environments. ‘Moral Perception’ advances this inspection, cementing his Goa-trance influences in a techno context, where he induces cosmic sound design, elastic rhythms, and detailed percussions, coalesced with metallic effects, fluid motifs & euphoric moments. 

The tension continues to bubble with his signature shimmering pads that take on a new context with ‘Rhythm of Rest’. What started out as an exercise in the world of VCV, results in a track that has a driving aura, laced with effervescent drones & cutting-edge rhythmic mutations. Biocym, a familiar name in the Italian deep techno circuit, joins the ensemble of music with his take on ‘Unseen Locations’ - a stern tool for any dance floor where the primordial emotive vocals take a new shape, whilst keeping the original motif intact. His second interpretation is of ‘Moral Perception’, an immediate immersion into aquatic ambiances, with captivating broken beats, metallic chirps, and intriguing waves of elements that make for a deep and eerie take on the original. 

Shaped by personal experiences and feelings of an imminent dystopian future, ‘Unseen Locations’ is a fully-formed organic evolution of Midnight Traffic’s distinctive sound. Qilla Records is an underground collective established in 2011, with the ethos of championing forward-thinking music in India. Since its inception, it has evolved into a bookings agency and events crew, leading the charge in curating transformative experiences, including its own pop-up festival - Alchemy. A decade later and with 90 releases, Qilla now has a more specific focus on Indian artists, pushing sounds of the country to a global audience and vice-versa.

Torn Relics is the latest project from ROMMEK & Aimée Mullen, based in London. 
The body of their work is a mix of cyber-punk electronics with tribalistic violin, rhythms and tones. It has been two years since the first compilation on the Various Artists series (PEVA) of Pi Electronics and the concept has stayed true to its aim: to present a coherent selection of the label’s favourite collaborators from the roster and parties over the years. Bringing together Greek and international artists, this compilation opens with a 10 minute recording by the combined forces of Orphx and JK Flesh (Justin Broadrick), from a live performance recorded in Amsterdam. Meanwhile we also showcase the resurfacing of Vofa, the joint project of producers Sawf and ANFS. There is a variety of options in this 13 tracks release; from the raw and harsh textures of An-i and New Frames, to Lycurgus live drum set recordings, Kondaktor’s African percussive electronics and Sarin’s EBM infused techno. Some more techno interpretations, such as the hypnotic moods of Stave and Fragedis, or the more punchy sounds of Restive Plaggona and Poison Green. These shape the full picture of this second Pi Electronics compilation titled ‘Divide & Rule’.
