For the 23rd Avenue Red Podcast we present Manchester-based DJ Rikki Humphrey, a notorious crate digger and a stylistically diverse DJ who does not identify with genre boundaries when considering his musical selections. His taste for deep, underground House and Techno was founded on listening to old Radio One Essential Mixes and his instinctive ear for unearthing new musical sounds led him to start collecting records, purchase a pair of Technics 1210 mk2 decks and begin mixing. He has never looked back and he is now certifiably a true vinyl junkie.

As well as hosting monthly online radio shows on The Underground Sessions and holding down residencies at Nest in Leeds, Studio 89 in Cardiff and Etc in Manchester, Rikki has also supported some of the finest underground DJs around, including the likes of Mike Huckaby, Italojohnson, Jeremy 'Underground Paris', Jay Daniel, Bicep, Maurice Fulton and Hunee. Rikki is also a very hard-working podcaster, dishing out tantalizing selections of wax to a wide range of respected labels including Feel My Bicep, Banoffee Pies, Roots For Bloom, City Fly and many more.

Armed with a well-rounded musical exposure, saving to afford production equipment has become a priority for Rikki in recent months in order to capture the sounds and styles of records he has fallen in love with over the years. His aim is: "To create instinctive dance floor jams with a distinct electronic edge, which make your neck snap and your body jack... or to take you off the dancefloor altogether to somewhere completely different". He already has some very high quality tracks released on Hull's Freche Früchte Recordings, Dublin-based label Swink Music and also Danish label Two House Limited. With up-coming releases on a few different UK labels as well as a string of remixes in the pipeline, Rikki is certainly one to keep an eye out for!

Baikal Nomads presents a collaborative organic house release by Kaöb and Nofrontera. It is the first time these artists have teamed up, and it features three tracks with progressive grooves.

Kaöb is a wilderness explorer, whose music is inspired by trips to more than 50 different countries. His love of nature and organic sounds are what form the backbone of his compelling music, which combines dramatic moments with flowing rhythms.

This is the third time Kaöb has worked with Baikal Nomads, adding to a previous EP, and a contribution to one of the record label's compilations. His tracks and remixes can also be heard on other respected imprints such as Leveldva, Shango Records, MONADA, and Cosmic Awakenings.

Nofrontera is also a French artist from Paris, and he takes inspiration from cultural diversity. He is fascinated by tribal chants, and aboriginal sounds from around the world, which he fuses with contemporary electronic instruments. This is Nofrontera's first time featuring on Baikal Nomads, adding to a catalogue that also includes • kosa • and Cafe De Anatolia.

"Tangaroa" opens the release with upbeat conga rhythms and aboriginal sounds, delivering a mystical vibe with deep atmosphere. "Otro Mundo" has atmospheric synths and ceremonial sounds, creating a trippy vibe underpinned by invigorating percussion. "Native Dream" closes the release with vocal chants and liquid melodies, combining with moody pads and tribal drums.
