On Board Music kicks off 2021 with Point C, the third in a series of Various Artist 12-inches. It continues Laura BCR’s exploration of the heady atmospheres between techno, dub and ambient, where the boundaries between the dancefloor and headphone introspection are blurred. Foreign Material’s opens Point C with a depth charge bassline and cavernous swells. It sets up the ethereal, light-footed skip of Hiver’s “Time Lapse” and Sylve’s dreamy “Cloudless Raindrops”. Alan Backdrop delivers pristine techno voodooism on the B-side, followed by the tunnelling shimmer of Hironori Takahashi’s “Exars”.

Liminal is a record label founded by Seiichiro Itoyama in 2021, as a space to share his work. Here's my remix for Martyn Hare's rowdy "Crowd Trouble". Other remixes on the 12" are from Inigo Kennedy, Joe Farr & SAWF remixes...For this, I went in with an energetic "EBM" kind of vibe. It was great to do this for Martyn as we go way back, when he booked me to play for him in Leeds in the  mid 2000's.

Nachtiville releases a record for its upcoming inaugural edition, fittingly entitled "Lekker Various". Following the tradition of its elder sister Nachtdigital, the record is a Various Artists EP, combining diverse contributions by artists who will also play the festival for an exclusive vinyl release. The music is an all-Dutch affair with tracks by ROD, Mattheis, Dollkraut and JP Enfant. Artwork comes courtesy of Manuel Birnbacher, Nachtiville’s graphic designer. The record comes as a 12inch with a proper hardcover, it is strictly limited and will definitely never see a repress. It is available first at the festival (Nov 13-15 at bungalow park De Eemhof). Possible remaining copies will afterwards be sold through the Nachtdigital web shop and a handful of carefully selected record stores (tba).

ROD - Scid Will Come

The duo make their debut to Drumcode Limited with a heavy, two track release. The EP showcases a mix of their talents and influences to create a moody, dark techno groove. The atmospheric EP is enriched with gritty reverbs and a deep kick drum and the slow, deep crescendos in each track create an intense sound. Mullaert and Siech prove themselves again with a powerful offering to Drumcode Limited.

Juan Atkins and Moritz von Oswald – the two indispensable protagonists of the Electric Garden – plug back into the wilderness. Transport – the new full length effort of the Borderland collaborative project – brings together a new set of studio-refined sequences aimed at colonizing some of the dark energy that pulsates through those areas that are thoroughly electrified, even if not ‘on the grid’.

The Detroit-Berlin axis triangulates to a third point which, like the atomic particle that lives in two places at once, flickers between a form of techno-charged ambience and a futuristic club-jazz which cannot be broken down into constitutive parts. Borderland remains caught in a state of enraptured stillness, invisibly moving between every
imagined future for electronic sound making. The result: a font from which springs serene and exhilarating musical ideas that vibrate with refined energy for sixty seconds in every minute.

Umwelt allies with Midnight Shift for the release of the mini LP Superior Life Forms, featuring six devastating tracks on the vinyl release and an exclusive number seven for the digital release.
Known for his take no prisoners approach to searing hardware-based broken electro with the spirit of 90s French rave parties where he participated in, Umwelt himself is founder of labels such as Fundata, New Flesh Records and Rave or Die, and a diehard scene activist, pushing the resistance for the past twenty years and more.
A dark, sci-fi bleak horror theme runs through his prolific cosmos of productions and Superior Life Forms continues the narrative. It’s a tri-invasion attack between man, machine and foreign sentient beings. From the snarling Shadow Entity creeping from the sidelines to the ominous sound of the day of reckoning depicted on title track, Superior Life Forms, Umwelt has full control of the genre – telling a story with tightly programmed sounds, deadly textural atmospherics and an uneasy, foreboding tension of a world signalling its end.
