Krake Festival introduces French Electro / Acid legend: Umwelt

Hail­ing from Lyon fruit­ful rave scene of the 90’s, Umwelt never let out of his way by the gleam­ing neon lights of the compromise.
Trac­ing its way under the Techno Rave and Elec­tro patron­age of Drex­ciya, and armed with its analogs machines for friends only, the French was care­ful enough not to kill the fire of the first men. Umwelt con­tin­ues indeed the work of pio­neers, namely pro­duc­ing a fash­ion wild trans­porta­tion, direct, able to take the lis­tener into the under­ground worlds as well as the infi­nite space.Owner of two labels (New Flesh and Rave Or Die), author of three albums and twenty EP’s on infa­mous labels such like Ship­wrec, Satamile, Dri­ve­com or Kom­mando 6, the pro­ducer never took a rest and has always fol­lowed his instinc­tive pre­scrip­tion: to cre­ate again and again, not by desire but by need. Umwelt is rare, his music is unique.

Dark Science Electro presents: Umwelt guest

Bialystok is a city tucked away right up in the North East of Poland, less than half an hour away from the Belarus border. As capital of the Podlaskie region, the city is more widely known for its forest and placid landscapes than for its electronic music scene. That is until in two weeks time when, for the seventh year running, Up To Date festival descends upon the city. Run by a team of passionate volunteers, Up To Date is still very much a DIY venture, albeit in the most positive possible interpretation of the term. For its 2016 edition, held on September 23rd & 24th, the program of the festival is set to be spread across three stages, the Białystok City Stadium underground, the stunning Opera house and the city's main landmark, the Branicki Palace. Ahead of the festival, we are more than delighted to welcome Umwelt for an absolute belter of a pre-festival mix. The French artist, who is soon to release an album on one of our favorite Berlin imprints Killekill, delivers an hour of menacing electro, stomping acid and frenetic techno and serves as the perfect introduction to what we hope will soon be a staple of the European festival circuit.

Coming from the French Electro scene, Fred Umwelt presents during 1h30 its definition of ELECTRO including some news and Electro Classics !!!

Coming from the Rave scene in Lyon in the early 90's, Umwelt made his first victims on the
dancefloor of numerous warehouses in France. In 1997, he releases his first productions. Combination of analogue rhythms and sounds, his music creates gloomy and electric atmosphere propelling the listeners into abyssal worlds.
So far, he has written three albums and about twenty EPs on labels such like Satamile Records, Drivecom, Kommando 6, Minimum Syndicat... In 2010, he launches his own electro imprint Newflesh Records along with Chris Nexus 6 for the visual part.
On stage, Umwelt remains faithful to the sound of the machines. His setup is exclusively built up around hardware gears, he finds them more attractive and sexy. As a DJ, he shares with his crowd twenty years spent to explore record shops and dancefloors.

The relentless stride of Northern Electronics can be put down to the attitudes of its owners, Anthony Linell and Jonas Rönnberg. Their collaborative project, Ulwhednar, has been shapeshifting at the centre of the label since its inception, and has captured their hard line electronics in its many guises.

Following on from 2017's 'Modern Silver', their new album reprises the intensity by grappling with its themes from a refreshed perspective. Crossing Norrland, the northernmost part of Sweden, and graffiti incidents and exploits, 'Razor Mesh Fencing' tracks the fervour of operations left undercover with blistering rhythmic pieces.

With only brief moments of respite on 'Razor Mesh Fencing' its stamina perpetually keeps us on the edge. Winding around its paths, our escape is in its adrenal crescendo.

Umwelt allies with Midnight Shift for the release of the mini LP Superior Life Forms, featuring six devastating tracks on the vinyl release and an exclusive number seven for the digital release.
Known for his take no prisoners approach to searing hardware-based broken electro with the spirit of 90s French rave parties where he participated in, Umwelt himself is founder of labels such as Fundata, New Flesh Records and Rave or Die, and a diehard scene activist, pushing the resistance for the past twenty years and more.
A dark, sci-fi bleak horror theme runs through his prolific cosmos of productions and Superior Life Forms continues the narrative. It’s a tri-invasion attack between man, machine and foreign sentient beings. From the snarling Shadow Entity creeping from the sidelines to the ominous sound of the day of reckoning depicted on title track, Superior Life Forms, Umwelt has full control of the genre – telling a story with tightly programmed sounds, deadly textural atmospherics and an uneasy, foreboding tension of a world signalling its end.
