Deano and Faretrade join forces to launch the DFT sublabel on Knowledge Imprint. The inaugural release is a five track EP recorded between Berlin and Cape Town over the course of a year, representing a creative, exploratory dialogue between friends. 

Most of the tracks were originally recorded as one-take jams with the Elektron Machine Drum, Novation Peak, SH-101, and Lyra-8 prior to heavy editing and processing. The synth work is loose, with strong ostinato and staccato elements against stripped back, raw percussion.

The seventh Various Artists release on Mary Yuzovskaya's Monday Off imprint arrives on vinyl in October 2024, with Viels, ORBE, D-Leria, and Yuzovskaya contributing tracks.

First up on the record, Italy's End Of Perception founder Viels conjures up a storm with 'Nero', a cerebral cut with crushing, low-end-heavy atmospheres and mysterious alien signals. It is followed by Spanish techno lynchpin and Orbe Records boss ORBE, whose hypnotic 'Rigging' explores the abyss with foreboding sonics and a continual beep sequence that guides the track forward.

On the B-side, Monday Off label head Mary Yuzovskaya presents 'Trouble'. A masterful bassline and bodied kickdrum starts the trip, providing an excellent foundation while alternating between rattling percussion, deep dub hits, and strangely familiar but indecipherable vocal snippets. Sound design wizard D-Leria then closes out the EP with the spellbinding 'Battito', complete with mind-blowing melodies and swirling effects, rounding off another top-draw psychedelic offering on Monday Off.

Echoes of the Chapel opens with a lone church choir drifting through a cold hall — then the doors slam and the drums hit. Rumble kick, tom-heavy accents, and metallic, industrial textures churn beneath the chant, building a midnight march that feels sacred and menacing at once. Big, moody reverb tails, pressure-valve noise sweeps, and a droning synth bed keep the air tense until the drop caves in the room.

Echoes

This EP is conformed by five tracks which will make you feel a hypnotic dance and groove sensation. The name comes from my identification with the owl, referring to all that the EP represents through my music.

OWL (Original Mix)

Epic synths are layered over a foundation of kick and rolling bass, tying the drums together through the rim. My aim was to create a groove that’s simple to listen to, allowing the focus to shift more toward the progression of the main sound element, a build-up of energy that unfolds over time.

If I had to associate this EP with an experience, I’d imagine it as a plane ride: during takeoff, you feel the force pinning you to your seat until the moment the plane lifts off and begins to climb… Up in the air, you feel light, weightless, until the descent begins. Here comes the drop: the wheels touch the runway.
