‘It’s You’ is the brand-new track by queer pop producer Susan Bear (FKA Good Dog), a much respected and sought-after stalwart of the Scottish music scene and a lynchpin of Lost Map Records. The standalone single marks a new direction for Suse after two well-received albums, by leaning further into her electronic side – still melancholy, tape-y vibes, but this time upping the energy, taking influence from club and dance music. “‘It’s You’ is about going on a mad nostalgia trip,” says Suse, “and your brain tricking yourself into thinking the past is always better than the present.” It comes with a video visualiser by Glasgow 3D artist/designer and DJ VAJ.Power, and is backed with an exclusive remix by award-winning avant-garde musician Lara Jones.  
 
Whether as bassist, keyboardist, guitarist, producer, songwriter, sound-designer, or something in between, Suse has variously worked with Lost Map artists including Tuff Love, Pictish Trail and Martha Ffion, as well as The Pastels, Tracyanne & Danny, Malcolm Middleton, Poster Paints, Karine Polwart, Amandah Wilkinson (Bossy Love), Goodnight Louisa and on a variety of theatre projects. Her debut solo album Creature was released in 2020 and featured the Spotify and Apple Music playlisted song ‘Floating’ (“Gentle, dreamy mood music” – The Scotsman). It was followed in 2022 by the album Alter, which received support from BBC 6 Music’s Radcliffe & Maconie and Amy Lamé and BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway and Roddy Hart. More new music from Susan Bear will follow in 2024.

In my dream, I found myself in a vast, otherworldly landscape, illuminated by a celestial glow. The air crackled with an extraordinary energy, creating an atmosphere filled with anticipation. As I surveyed my surroundings, I noticed a radiant light descending from the heavens, steadily growing brighter and larger with each passing moment.

As the light drew closer, it transformed into a sleek, silver spacecraft, unlike anything I had ever encountered. It effortlessly hovered above the ground, emitting a gentle hum that reverberated through the air. The ship's exterior displayed intricate patterns and symbols, suggesting a civilization far more advanced than our own.

Suddenly, a hatch materialized on the side of the spacecraft, and a staircase extended towards the ground. With awe-struck eyes, I observed a group of extraterrestrial beings emerge from within.

These beings stood tall, with slender and graceful bodies. Their resplendent skin emitted a luminescent glow, constantly shifting in color with their movements. Their large, almond-shaped eyes were vibrant and wise, reflecting a deep understanding of the universe. They moved gracefully, effortlessly traversing the alien landscape.

Their method of communication was unlike anything I had ever encountered. I could hear their thoughts resonating within my mind, a symphony of ideas, emotions, and concepts. They possessed a profound empathy and understanding, immediately putting me at ease.

Through our interaction, they conveyed a deep reverence for the natural world, and a profound connection to the cosmic tapestry that unites all life. They shared their knowledge of advanced technologies, capable of harnessing the energy of stars and exploring the farthest reaches of the universe.

Their visit was not one of conquest or domination, but rather an exchange of ideas, an intermingling of civilizations. Through their presence, I gained a fresh perspective on the vastness of the cosmos and our place within it. They filled me with wonder and ignited a curiosity for the infinite possibilities that lie beyond the boundaries of our world.

In the hush of the night, when the celestial tapestry adorned the skies, a couple, weathered by the weight of six decades, made their way to the heart of Nexal, the capital city steeped in the ancient traditions of Maztica. Their journey began in the distant coastal town of Azcat, but an unexpected storm, fierce and untamed, had swept in from the west, delaying their progress.

Their purpose: to lay offerings at the grand pyramid of Zaltec, nestled on the holy island of the Roses. However, their footsteps fell into the rhythm of fate, and as the sun dipped beneath the horizon, casting long shadows over Nexal, the couple found themselves wandering the deserted grounds of the sacred site.

In the quietude, far removed from the fervor of daylight worshippers, they discovered a sight that would etch itself into the annals of mystery. Within a basket meticulously woven from the supple branches of the Tzalam tree, cradled a babe, a mere whisper in the symphony of the night.

Xochitl, a name whispered by destiny, lay nestled within the woven cocoon. The child, no older than two moons, held secrets only the stars above could fathom. The couple, drawn to her innocence and touched by the celestial magic lingering in the air, brought her down from the temple atop the pyramid.

For over two weeks, the elderly couple immersed themselves in the labyrinthine city of Nexal. They sought tidings of the parents of the babe, making inquiries in every corner, and each evening returning to the summit of the pyramid, hoping for a reunion that seemed destined to elude them.

On the fifteenth evening, as the sun cast its final golden hues over the grandeur of Nexal, the couple stood once more at the apex of the pyramid. A profound stillness draped over them, and in that sacred moment, a voice, soft as a zephyr yet mighty as a tempest, resonated behind them. It was a woman's voice, the embodiment of celestial love, which both froze and warmed their bodies simultaneously.

The voice spoke of destiny woven into the fabric of the cosmos. It commanded them to be the parents that fate had chosen them to be, to take Xochitl under their wings and cherish her as their own. As the celestial command unfolded, they found themselves unable to turn, their gaze fixated on the city below. The voice whispered the name "Xochitl" like a gentle breeze through the leaves, leaving an indelible mark on their souls.

When they could finally turn, the city sprawled before them in quiet reverence. Yet, on the altar behind them, a rose bush had bloomed, its petals unfolding in celestial harmony. From its branches dangled two feathered daggers, as if they were the fruits of this mystical plant. A silent understanding passed between the couple as they approached, taking the daggers as both a birthright and a legacy.

With Xochitl cradled in their arms, they embarked on a journey back to Azcat, guided by the echo of the celestial voice and the celestial daggers, carrying the weight of an ancient destiny.
