SlimSoul's music journey began at the age of 9, having been raised in a family of singers, drummers and dancers. This led him to a feeling for Afro, deep soulful melodies incorporated within house music. SlimSoul started producing his own house music, because he was looking for something different within those sounds. His goal is to bring people together and spread love through the connection of music. SlimSoul can do just that if he keeps putting out work like this! 

This mix takes you on a journey through the deep end of house and the highest highs of expression. In the future, you can expect to see SlimSoul experiment with ways to blend Tech House and Afro soulful together. His ultimate goal is to spin at a music festival, saying "to have that kind of experience with the people is everything! You can't put a price on that."

As a DJ and budding producer, she's as versatile and talented as they come. Getting her start on UCLA Radio, she is a champion of the open format, spinning everything from Bicep to Nelly Furtado and discovering her sound all at the same time. You can expect to hear more from Mad Gavs as events start to return and even behind the scenes, using her experience cutting through the noise at Ninja Tune to lend a hand on the label side of LOP. 

Getting an opportunity to witness this incredible woman's growth musically and just as an amazing human has been nothing short of inspiring. Mad Gavs is the first mix for a reason! LOP GUEST MIX SERIES 001: MAD GAVS

SWEET LIKE CHOCOLATE. is a Black-owned, collaborative house music, fashion and entertainment project; founded by DJ/Producers alexNOIZE and ZEN1TH. 

Inspired by the likes of The Martinez Brothers, Paul Johnson and Dennis Ferrer, their sound ranges from soulful classic house music, to energetic Ibiza tech house crowd lifters. With them, no set is the same- and this has created an extremely high demand for them to play across major cities within the USA.

LOP GUEST MIX SERIES 003: SWEET LIKE CHOCOLATE

OJ (full name Olivia Johnson) is a DJ and aspiring producer in Los Angeles. It was an easy choice for the Seattle native to keep the nickname - it happens to rhyme quite well with DJ. By day she wields words and creativity as a PR specialist, but in 2019 she decided to apply that knack for storytelling to her main passion: creating musical experiences as a DJ. Pre-COVID she would regularly spin at Westside spots like The Little Friend and Nameless, but during the pandemic has embraced Twitch as a way to find new audiences. She believes music is the most gratifying way to experience and process emotion, and draws further inspiration from dark dancefloors she’s experienced around the world. Expect plenty of acid, techno and breaks alongside chunky, jackin’ house when she’s on the decks. A house head at heart, her multifaceted, multi-genre mixes also fuse ‘90s house anthems with pop and hip hop edits. With a drive second to none, stay tuned for what’s to come from OJ.

Born and raised in Southern California, 30 year old Kree Iraldo has been around various music scenes- from the thriving club life in downtown Los Angeles, to raves in San Bernardino, and to window-shattering house parties in Orange County. Ever since Derteedisco picked up the decks, his unique mixing style of house with disco/90's samples continues to give us a sound that starts parties and brings down the clubs. With over 600 private shows,  numerous club events, playing alongside the likes of Shdws, Justin Jay, Luke Andy, Jason Ross, Charity Strike, Mark Farina,  Dj Ideal, Dj Casanova, The Funk Hunters, Cheechmo, and Subset. Derteedisco makes an excellent addition to any line-up.

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community:
Your internal locus of evaluation will guide you. Don’t follow trends or get caught up in social media. Dig for music that truly makes you groove. Keep digging. Challenge yourself. Surround yourself with people who inspire you and lift you up. There is always more to learn and more music to discover. 

About the mix: I thoroughly enjoyed collecting music for this one over the last few months. This is my usual approach to mixes, I like to collect and select over a period of time to let the music flow and fall into place naturally. 'Back to the Basics' - I wanted to get back to straight up house in this mix and emit a summery feel as we move into this season. The first half of the mix I aimed to project a softer energy, a slowed down pace to counter the crazy busy period I'm in and to emphasise my love for my biggest and truest influence, 90's house music. There really is an infinite array of music made in this era and it keeps giving more and more as time goes on, I find it fascinating that there is still so much to discover. The first half is filled with lovely juicy finds from my favourite era and labels. The second half of the mix rolls into a more driving energy and shines light on forthcoming music bridging the connection from old to new, something I strive for in my sets, productions and digging. Recorded in my new apartment and on my new setup with an abundance of natural light shining in - the energy is very fresh.
