Another name is Boundless Conciousness. Aslo neither nor is also some times called "The base consisting of Residuel Formantions". the example for this name is that a monk has finished his bowl of food. Is there anything left in the bowl? there is residue from the meal, but we cannot say it has food in it and we cannot say it has no food in it.

A-Nimita? as in no nimita. the nimita being the sign. also curious how this final state relates to Nirodha Samapati.

see i disagrre with the idea that 'green square pillow' is happening 'here' *points at brain*. its happening 'there' *point at pillow* and hand happens here *points at hand* and brain happens here *points at brain*.  Alll of this, pillow, hand, brain, happen inside mind. this whole room and and sounds from beyond the room, happen inside Mind. all the qualities of mind happening 'around and within' us are co-dependant on one another., and thus empty of indipendant existance oressence. thus so is the self-world as a whole. including all the spatial relations between those qualities. one can actually watch baby create space, by organising their sensations as a result of flaing thier limbs around and striking what will become 'cot, 'matteress' with what will become 'hand'. watch as baby creates 'dad; and 'mom', through association of sensations and spatial relations.

ok fair, the pillow does not have a quality of emptyness. the pillow is essence-less. empty of independant exisistance. more accurate to say that the self-world is empty?

There is suffering. it sucks. so wha'cha gunna do about it? respond to it with compassion. what kind? skillful.So here are 3 trainings to help you develop those skills.

OK i i havnt been in formless Jhana, but my experience even with 1st is that if i invesitage it too much it falls apart. i hear this is even more true thedeeper one goes.   It sounds to me like after 8th he reflects on it, thus losing the Jhana and in the afterglow attaining the Signless Concentration.
