'Bohemian Rhapsody' Was Freddie's confessional. It was about how different his life could have been, and how much happier he might have been, had he just been able to be himself, the whole of his life. The world heard this song as a masterpiece of imagination, a great command of musical styles.

Old buddy and indispensable groupie Sam Eurich presented me recently with a slew of recordings from our youth and the bands I formed ... most of said recordings I no longer possessed! (and I thought I had them all) Along with a treasure of recordings from the band “Liquid Sunshine” followed another treasure trove of recordings from our duo “Marcel & Roberts!”

Marcel (Bob Andriulli ... (middle name Marcelino) and me (middle name actually LEGALLY “Roberts” with an “s” due to a typo on my birth certificate) toured the club circuit around the USA in the mid 70s. Everywhere from Delaware, to Kansas City, Lincoln and Valentine Nebraska (big stories there) Casper Wyoming, Wisconsin ... and so many, many more states I simply forget. 

We were known as THE vocal duo! A badge we wore gladly, though never really took seriously. We did what we did. Only YEARS later did I hear and realise how well we made music together, and how we sang as one voice. 

I restored these recordings as best as I could. Tried to reduce tape hiss, expand the stereo image, even-out the track amplitude, and even compensate for inaccurate tape speed. In any case ... the flavor of these recordings somehow remain fresh, the vocals ... at times enchanting. Recorded in the mid 70’s across the USA, it is a musical memory of two young musicians (both circa 20-22 years old) trying to make it ... and in the process ... made some good music.
