When I was a kid I went through a preoccupation phase with Lizzie Borden after finding out that my great aunt Elsie had married Lizzie's cousin Fred (they'd honeymooned it the house Lizzie had murdered her father and stepmother for which she'd been acquitted).  Since then I had given up my fascination with murder until happening upon a website dedicated to documenting murders called Murderpedia.org.  I was then inspired to write this song based on three murderesses I learned about included a 10 year old named Mary Bell.   Although I did not include Lizzie Borden's story in this song, I feel the overall song embodies the feel of mystery surrounding her murder story.
