Love Above Records is proud to present our second annual compilation: Home By 909. Another quality collection of ‘house’ music reflecting on the year that has been.

There is no denying that 2021 was weird. Melbourne was subject lockdowns with a 9pm curfew, and like many other parts of the world, live music was put on hold indefinitely. Our first annual compilation focussed on the themes of 2021 and it felt only fitting that our second compilation did the same. From this, ’Home by 909’ was born (with a nod to ye old Roland ofc!!).

Here at love Above Records we have always strived to create a community of like minded house-music heads. Our space is open for all kinds of producers to share their variations of house music with the world. We have cast our net far and wide, and have managed to compile a monster 20-track release clocking in at just under 2 hours of listening.

Home by 909 warms up with lush soundscapes before entering into deep house cuts and ending in total dance floor territory. This compilation rewards those who are committed.

John Barera (Allergy Season, Dolly, Sorry Records) joins the roster of Will Buck’s Off Track Recordings this September with his four-track ‘Message In The Air’ EP. New York based producer, DJ and Cross Street Music label boss John Barera has long been a highly acclaimed artist in the world of underground House and Techno. In 2022, he scored his first film as well, Marc17 in the House. His material has graced many taste making labels, while his DJ sets have taken him to hotspots like Panorama Bar, Fabric, Smart Bar, Razzmatazz, Floyd, Video Club, Tangent Gallery and many more. Here we see Barera, a prolific collaborator who drops solo albums as well, delivering his first solo ep in six years via the fledgling Off Track Recordings. On this record, Barera steps up with his trademark raw house, now infused with live instruments or even a vocal across four soul drenched house cuts.

Pure Space returns with a certified dancefloor heater from local Eora-Sydney artist Command D.

First heard through the Inner Varnika festival soundsystem this year ‘Musik’ comes as an audacious dance cut, bolstered with aggressive drum programming, a punching bassline and playful sampling.

The vocals that carry the tune are reminiscent of many 90s dance tunes; simple yet purposeful to those rolling deep on a dancefloor.

Command D’s life between the urban and green surrounds of Eora/Sydney shine through in his Animalia debut with a smoked out, dubby four tracker. Diving between slinky downtempo and dance-floor driven beats, weighty bass-lines, crisp percussion and submerged pads wrap the record in a shrouded atmosphere of tension and release.
