Gift was recorded live at Arqade in Los Angeles, CA at a Santa Con afterparty.  Surrounded by an intimate crew of drunk and silly Santas, we reveled late into the night. Carefully curated to be released for the RIPEcast, "Gift" is a collection of songs that have been gifted to me in various ways throughout my career.  I am excited to gift this set to the Space Cowboys and RIPEcast, and I am looking forward to joining them behind the decks at the 2017 Breakfast of Champions New Year's Day party in San Francisco.

I wanted to take this moment and thank a few individuals who make Genius•Loci FEST so darn special. It takes a village, as they say, so I'd like to acknowledge those who contributed in any way shape or form to make Genius•Loci FEST such a memorable experience.

Starting off with the people behind the scenes, who helped load in the boxtrucks with some heavy a$$ equipment, those who donated cushions, fabrics, transported bamboo poles and laser cut stages, bringing the sweet BOOM sound systems, to those that volunteered on site, with their A-Game, "born for this" attitudes, sharing mad skills. Teamwork truly makes the dream work so I want to thank you for checking people in at the gate, setting opening intentions, providing words of advice & encouragement, serving delicious breakfast burritos and acai bowls, sharing epic visual experiences, playing incredible music sets, leading invigorating yoga classes, teaching transformational workshops at the Sanctuary, painting art murals or creating beautiful installations. Every passing year feels wonderful to see how hard work pays off with growth. Thank you Henry Pope for steering the ship in a successful direction, proving once again, how if we work together as a collective community, we can accomplish anything.

Thank you to those who shared and soaked in the experience. Its an honor to play a role, big or small in supporting the vision. It is with all of you in mind that I share this music contribution.

Genius Loci Opening Ceremony

Lush Bunny and I wanted to play a fun playful deep house set of cover songs while out on the Dusty Rhino for a sunset art tour at Burning Man.  This was my first time playing on an art car. Unfortunately Lushy didn't record his part, as he played first, so this was the part I played.

As I upload this mix I am still at a loss for words.  On November 20, 2019 the greater Tahoe and Reno community lost one of our most treasured resources and our world will never be the same.  Zephyr touched the hearts of everyone that had the privilege of meeting him.  I process, purge and share my emotions through my music and dj sets.  You can say I wear my heart on my sleeve but instead the shirt is 2 cdj's and a mixer.  Creating this set in memory of Zephyr has been one of the most emotional experiences I have had with music in my life.  As I auditioned music I thought of spending time with him in our Camp at Burningman, watching in awe as he played his guitar while rocking out to Prince and watching him dance (better than some of my friends) to deep house when I would play live at Coffee Bar, Squaw and Guitarfish.  I thought of his parents Greg and Moni and what a devastating experience this has been for them as they take it all head on and somehow keep it together.  I thought of the Grandparents,the rest of their families as well as the amazing community coming together to support them and one another in these heartbreaking times.  I thought of all these things and cried, smiled and cried some more and it has left me emotionally drained and helped the healing process begin for me and I hope it can do the same for you.  I feel blessed to live in such a loving community and this community Love's You Zephyr.

Hi, I'm Blue Whiting (formally known as DjBlue42), I Live in Truckee CA.  I've been involved with the dance community for over 2 decades.
