Bit of background on Mr Sideshow Will - A well-rounded trip is Aussie gave Will the bug for music that keeps biting. He came back to NZ filled to the brim with inspiration. Only & immediately to be adopted into the legendary Whatevers Radio crew(Skyway.Krd) Sam & Zing. 

These like-minded music brats have been throwing some of the sickest gigs in AK, hosting or running a DJing studio on Krd, and delivering fine asf DJ sets at Bars, Clubs, Streams & Radio for some time now along with other Auckland talents.

To celebrate TGR’s 50th instalment of the Pick ‘N’ Mix series, we happily welcome London-based DJ, St. Amp to the controls. 

Part of the London/Bristol-based electronic music collective Awake All Hours (@awake.allhours), St. Amp is involved in hosting a fortnightly podcast, an interview series, and a mix series over on the channel. 

What’s more, you can also catch them live and direct, with their next night planned for August at Spanners in Brixton. Not one to be missed. 

As for the mix, St. Amp takes us down the wormhole, showcasing his recent finds on the faster side of the spectrum with a boatload of high tempo techno, jungle, glitch, IDM and bass music.

The short notice crew goes international for Minka’s instalment of the SHORTMIX and we can assure you – this one is every bit worth the flight. 

Finding time for us between shows in Utrecht, Netherlands, Minka brings a mix that opens with seamless synthesised flow. Trance tracks roll together effortlessly, bringing a groove that feels equal parts deep dancefloor energy and a tranquil moment sitting up against the warehouse wall. Minka’s mix is no simple dream-walk in the park, however. There’s serious grit here, with wobbling breakbeats and barred-teeth acid bass that blow away the mist.

This mix shows Minka as a DJ with acute awareness of classic 90s rave sounds yet with enough prowess to sound cutting-edge and never stuck in cliché.
