Reptile Mob is back with a third part of its superb on going compilation series and this one looks at different aspects of the garage house sound. Side a-begins with some fresh four-four grooves no least the opener from the legend that is Perception with Andy G and S.R.'s dubby 'Let's Go' remix. Conspiracy Dubz keeps it bumping with the old school feels of 'Musical Rush' and on the B-side it is more of a 2-step sound that emerges with jazzy melodies and female vocals. Groovy D's 'Another Chance' is the real standout for us with its classic vocal sample worked into a nice kinetic rhythm.

Leeds house and disco producer David Garfit is set to unleash his debut album, 'Take Me To The Top', on Nocturnal Recordings!
 
In a short space of time, Garfit has demonstrated a keen production prowess on tracks for labels like Love Not Money, Crossworld and Straight Music. His style veers between deep house and slick disco with plenty of well chiselled grooves never far away.  As well as DJing alongside the likes of Darius Syrossian and Miguel  Campbell - who have also played plenty of his tracks up to now - David holds a monthly residency at in-the-know Leeds night Nest. Very much a star in the ascendency, this assured full length debut is only likely to win him more plaudits.
 
There's a polished, well-defined production style evident through the album right from the off. Pairing creamy synth work with hip swinging claps and plenty of deep down basslines, tracks like opener 'Warning' scream to be played by the poolside.  Rather than relying on tried and tested vocal hooks, smooth female voices sound at home between the ditty keys and Hot Creations style bounce of 'Tonight' and 'Watch Out'.
 
Though thoroughly modern in make up, there are shades of classic vibes like those of Studio 80 in its heyday; of New York disco at its most dazzling. The bottom ends anchor the album in the here and now though, designed for maximum shapeshifting without ever getting stuck in a rut.
 
Each track is a wholly heartfelt, unashamedly emotional ode to house and disco, though, in an ideal world, the crispness could also make for devastating pop with plenty of hummable melodies and sing-able basslines all staying with you much longer than your average modern effort. The second half of the album gets a little grittier and slides deeper down, with tracks like 'Remember When' designed for those later hours.
 
Arriving with what sounds like an already full formed sound, David Garfit is sure to go intergalactic upon the release of 'Take Me To The Top'.

Following up from his fantastic debut album release 'Take Me To The Top', David Garfit returns with one of his epic cuts from that album!

The original mix of 'Tonight' offers a laidback deep and funky groove as we would expect from this project. Nathan Swiss and Will Crawshaw have been brought in on remix duties here. Nathan Swiss is a fast developing talent delivering uncomplicated funky disco/nu disco grooves with ease as he's shown on his previous releases 'My Sound' and 'Number One'. He continues in that style on this remix to incredible effect. 

Will Crawshaw a young dj/producer who cut his teeth on the Leeds club circuit with a string of prolific releases on labels such as Nurvous, Love Not Money, Gruuv, Electronique - get's to grips with the original and turns it on it's head. Keeping that funking bassline intact, Will adds some Tech sensibilities and strips this down to the basics giving us a raw driving groove.

Very nice work all round and another superb release from Nocturnal Recordings!

London’s Kylin Tyce teams up with the Tessellate crew to release four slick, 2-step tracks including a remix from Moodswing label boss Perception.

London based Kylin Tyce is a new artist on the circuit with an ear for ambient soundscapes, rolling beats and intricate percussion. His sound takes inspiration from the realms of early UK Garage paired with forward-thinking House & Techno which can be heard on his releases on labels such as Oldivibes, PIV and Render. You can either find Kylin behind the counter at the London record shop Phonica or playing regularly at clubs in and around the capital where he aims to take you on a journey through both old and new realms of electronic music whilst providing a continuous vibe to the dance floor. ‘Do Your Thing’ sees him join the London based event series and record label Tessellate following releases from artists such as T. Jacques, Alex Pervukhin, Firmin and Aleksandir.

‘Do Your Thing’ kicks things off with vibrant, steppy percussion with shimmering bass grooves and layered pads underneath before ‘Further South’ lays focus on colourful synth waves, luscious vibrations through rolling low frequencies and a sultry sax line.

On the flip, ‘Thinkin’ fuses nostalgic, stripped back, UKG stylings with uplifting keys, jubilant tones and an inviting vocal line. Perception who is known for his renowned vinyl only sets and releases on DPR Records, Dr Banana and his Moodswing imprint provides a bumpy remix of ‘Thinkin’ featuring warming pads, silky garage-tinged percussion, and honeyed vocal snippets from the original
