Next up on Kaluki this summer, we are welcoming another label newcomer, this time in the form of Ecuadorian DJ and producer, Jose Apolo, who makes his debut on the imprint with his brand new, Enamorado EP. Since kickstarting his DJ career in 2020 with his first release on Detlefs Issues label, Jose has gone on to draw support from the Tech House community with his tracks being supported by a number of respected DJs within the scene. The dancefloor focused Enamorado EP entices listeners with its percolating rhythms, rise and fall acid inspired basslines, trippy synths, hip swinging claps and cleverly chopped vocals throughout. Hot Creations gear up to drop the eagerly anticipated House & Pressure from hot property Route 94. Echoing the excitement that surrounded his No.1 hit My Love, which shot him to stardom, the record has been in serious demand for months. Now finally ready for release he showcases his versatile skills as a producer over three heavy-weight tracks.

Rowan Jones aka Route 94 explains how he wanted to “put out three tracks that were diverse yet definitive.” Title track House & Pressure packs a real punch and contains the vocals from Joey Negro's classic Ride the Storm featuring Linda Clifford. The dominant female vocal on ‘House & Pressure’ combined with the force of the drum machines is a traditional element that people connect to the Route 94 productions. With ‘Crazy Bitch’ it’s a more of a big room sound, incorporating ghetto elements. ‘Dark Keyless’ is the complete opposite, creating a groove that aims to grab the crowd and let them loose.

This year has seen a succession of big releases and remixes from Route 94 that cement his place amongst the dance music elite including the recent hit Mind, Body & Soul on Crosstown Rebels. The talented producer first saw fame reaching No.1 in the UK charts with My Love featuring Jess Glynne. Keen to remain on the underground scene, he followed with releases and remixes on Leftroom, Defected and Hot Creations. Overwhelming success followed as he performed at the likes of fabric, Sub Club, Space, Ushuaia, DC10 and many more. With a wealth of new material still on the way and a hectic touring schedule in place, it’s clear this is only the start for the young artist.

Young Irish-producer Rebūke continues his rapid ascent to the top with two original productions on Hot Creations, primed and ready for the dancefloor.

Rebūke recalls being worried that Along Came Polly may have been perceived as being “a bit too weird”, but once it caught the attention of Jamie Jones, there was no stopping it. He says that the hype surrounding this EP “is something I’ve never experienced before...and it always get a great reaction”.

On Along Came Polly, Rebūke showcases his innate ability to craft a weirdly, wonderful slice of techno. On the B-side, Rolo is a much housier affair, weaving together a bouncier bassline and sultry vocal stab.

The alias of Reuben Keeney, Rebūke, has only been in business for a short while, but his efforts have already proved to be fruitful. He has garnered support from the likes of Nic Fanciulli and released on labels including Saved and DFTD, as well as having a successful club night under his belt, where highly regarded names such as Camelphat, Darius Syrossian, Ejeca and Huxley have all played.

Hannah Wants drops a bumpy club banger on Toolroom entitled 'Call Me' that includes none other than the mighty Kevin Knapp on vocal duties. Hannah's meteoric rise to fame has been very well documented in recent years and she truly is one of the brightest shining stars on the scene. Her newly launched label 'Etiquette' continues to go from strength to strength and her gig diary is chocker-block which is testament to her hard work ethic and unrivalled skills behind the decks. As well as releasing on her own imprint, Hannah has also graced the digital record shelves of Sola and Brock Wild already in 2019 and there looks to be plenty more where that came from in the clip.

Hannah lays down an incredible groove on 'Call Me' which rumbles along from the off with tight, crisp percussion and a wobbly bass line that you can't help but move to. Kevin is right at home with this sort of track and does his thing over the top, adding some real character and hooks to the record. Club & radio will be loving this in equal measures and we at Toolroom are super proud to be hosting this latest outing from Hannah Wants & Kevin Knapp!
