The term ‘classic’ is perhaps one that is overused when referring to dance tracks gone by. However, when it comes to Spiller and Sophie Ellis Bextor’s ‘Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)’ it is impossible to dispute the record’s influence or impact. Originally released in 2000, the chart-topping anthem has had a renaissance of late since its acquisition by Defected Records, with the label delivering remixes that continue the record’s legacy. Now following Purple Disco Machine & Lorenz Rhode’s rework, Italian club don Riva Starr now delivers his storming three remix package. With a nod to the Philly sound on Riva’s Disco Odyssey Mix, luxurious strings courtesy of a live ensemble and a pumping bassline do the talking, while the Disco Odyssey vocal utilises Sophie Ellis Bextor’s iconic top line over the dancefloor-ready remix. Finally, Riva’s Skylight Hard Dub dials up the tempo for a high energy club cut that is unmistakably Riva in its sound.

Kataa’s return on Déepalma Soul sports a fetching combination of house, disco, soul and funky flavours across two dancefloor-ready cuts - Don’t Walk Away / Complicated.

Romanian artist Kataa is no stranger to the Déepalma franchise, featuring across both of our labels throughout the years. Renowned for his deep and soulful approach to House music production, Kataa’s defined audio signature comes to play at full strength across his latest release.

Opening with ‘Don’t Walk Away’, the track is a progressively rising Deep House number with a prominent melodic presence from the outset. Riding a well-thought combination of punchy drums, crisp percussion and synth lines from the start, its rolling journey, laced with soulful vocals and funky instrumental panache, is enjoyable and addictive. This one is a repeater!

‘Complicated’ completes the release with more uplifting charisma from the jump. Another vocal-led track with an ultimately enjoyable hotbed of harmonies and pacy drum work; its feel-good personality carries you through a myriad of scenes and emotions whilst keeping you very much on your toes and moving - ticking all the boxes for a great club record.
