Spooky Week is over--what is the monstrosity doing in the thumbnail for today's Interbay track?  

Well, if you were going to pick one infamous moment where an on-screen romantic relationship fell afoul of an insidence of "retroactive continuity" or "retcon"--could you think of a better example than that of Vanessa Kensington-Powers in the Austin Powers sequel?  

(I couldn't.)  

On a windy and wet day in Seattle, we welcome you to November--a month known for spawning monsters--and the continuing madness that is "dropping a brand new Interbay track on SoundCloud every single day (so far)".  

I had two thoughts in mind when starting the song that turned into today's track, "Retcon" (which had a temporary title of "Frommage"--not sure what that has to do with anything, but I have to remember that when looking for it in my project files.)  

First, I wanted to explore some of the sounds of Music For the Masses-era Depeche Mode.  I tend to push towards a Vince Clarke-ish Speak & Spell era D'mode...or, I'll aim for the Violator era...so to shoot for something in between both of those was novel, for me at least.  

Second, I wondered how those sounds would blend with strong female vocals, like "Rolling in the Deep" Adele...or "Dog Days (Are Over)" by Florence and the Machine.  

...and then, what happened is what ALWAYS happens.  No matter what I'm aiming for, I end up with something that sounds less like its influences and inspirations...and more, indeed, perfectly more, like...Interbay.  

I hope you give it a listen, like it you do, repost or share it or add it to a playlist if you REALLY like it.  Leave a comment, especially if it is something nice and positive.  

And, for heaven's sake...follow this page.  How else could you keep up with the--what did I just call it?  Oh, yeah--the continuing madness that is dropping a brand new Interbay track on SoundCloud every single day (which is something that has happened for over 530 straight days!)

...and that's canon.  No retcons necessary.

🇹🇳🇨🇦 LazarOFF is a Tunisian DJ based in Canada who has been captivating audiences with his unique music style over the past few years. At 36, LazarOFF, whose real name is Lazhar Abassi, reflects a rich tapestry of diverse influences in his musical journey. His early love for metal and hip-hop eventually evolved into a passion for electronic music, inspired by legendary artists like Eric Prydz, Armin Van Buuren, and Fatboy Slim. This evolution fostered a deep appreciation for Deep House and other electronic genres.

Starting to DJ felt like a natural progression for LazarOFF, given his extensive love for various musical styles. His sets are renowned for seamlessly blending Progressive House and Melodic Techno, crafting a mesmerizing and exhilarating experience for his listeners. Influenced by iconic DJs such as D-Nox, Pavel Petrov, Oliver Huntemann, Stereo Underground and Pete Tong, LazarOFF's performances are characterized by hypnotic rhythms and emotive melodies.
