Barcelona post-punk quartet Low Blows is unleashing a Pandora’s Box of frustrations with their new song “I Hate.” The introspective song reflects upon recent years living under constant global crisis – injustices and maladies that range from rights to inequity, peace to war, health to the pandemic, and education to disinformation. The plodding, dystopian soundscape showcases buzzy synths reminiscent of early Human League and Gary Numan, as well as post-punk guitars that bring to mind Joshua Tree-era U2. The droll chant of the lead singer unfurls a steady litany of rage.

“The track is a harsh interpretation of reality, because it was written at a time when the world was not up for celebration,” the band says. “It continues on in this state, but hopefully everything will change and advance for the better. We try to contribute to that change.”

The video for ‘I Hate,’ directed by Cristian Vidal and Amanda González, is a sinister, unsettling wander through the dark, encountering surreal visions, dreamscapes of the past, photo cameos of long-past ancestors, and the cleansing power of fire.

Barcelona post-punk trio, Low Blows, takes us through the depths of our collective psyche with their latest track and stunning video, “Misleading Blind.” This contemplative piece serves as a meditation on an era marked by relentless global challenges – spanning the spectrum from civil rights and inequities to the juxtaposition of health and pandemic, from peaceful dialogues to conflicts, and from enlightened education to the murk of disinformation.

The deliberate, almost apocalyptic, musical tableau of the song is adorned with synths echoing the pioneering days of Human League and Gary Numan, complemented by quintessential post-punk guitar strains. The lead vocalist’s dry, rhythmic intonation guides listeners through the melancholy of solitude.

“Misleading Blind” was written during the pandemic and post-pandemic, when we thought we should write something sad and not related to any kind of celebration,” the band muses. “It’s sad, yet ferocious and cathartic.”

In Mar Ordonez’s incredible surrealist video for the track, an uncanny reverie unfolds. A woman is roused from her afternoon slumber by a mysterious lookalike, leading her through a series of perplexing and disquieting events as she traverses the city in search of understanding. Misleading Blind

Escuchar a Low Blows conlleva un viaje a una época lejana donde el descubrimiento de las emociones necesitaba un tiempo de maduración. Un proceso que había que asimilar con los pocos recursos a nuestro alcance en cuestión de acceso.

Y realmente, las emociones hay que digerirlas de forma pausada para que tengan su efecto. Algo parecido ocurre con este nuevo single de Low Blows, un trío peculiar porque sus componentes viven entre Ibiza, Getxo y Mataró aunque afincados en Barcelona, y al que hay escuchar con la calma y atención necesaria como cuando comprábamos los primeros discos, porque así podremos encontrar el detalle.

«Normal» sugiere atmósferas dark que apuntan a la melodía entre guitarras y bajos penetrantes que se ajustan a la voz profunda y determinante de Carlos Vergara, líder del proyecto.

“Normal”, es su nuevo video single, grabado y mezclado por Lluis Cots en Estudi Nautilus y masterizado por Víctor García; el videoclip es también obra de Carlos Vergara y planta una desgarrada secuencia de imágenes corporales que quitan el sueño.
